Thanks, muss,
Very interesting, Elizabeth would have been 19 if it was her, but it seems to fit. Nancy & William never married (as far as I know). On the death certificate of Mary CUSACK. Issue - there is an Agnes Ann, deceased. No age but probably born about 1838/9, going by the others' ages. (she was the eldest).  I had first thought that this may have been Nancy, as sometimes people are called something completely different to their given names. Nancy was also born about 1837/8. But there is the family story that Nancy was reared by the CUSACK's. ???  It looks like I will have to get the Ann WOODS death certificate.

Have just checked the NSW bdm's & I am afraid the William WOODS buried in Hillston is not the right bloke. His parents were Henry & Mary WOODS.

muss , yes i have that newspaper article about William SEAL & his bigamist marriage, interesting.
Merlin, thanks for the Hillston cemetery transcription. Where did you get that from, as i would like to know if ther were any other WOOD/S internments there.
Thank you all for the assistance given so far, it is appreciated.

cupoflife,    i will have to do some more thinking about this marriage, it is possible that Julia McCORMICK had problems & they separated or she went into care. When he married he just stated that he was a widower, which has been a consideration for a while.
Walter HEAD was born 27 Jan 1850, Norfolk, Eng.

Thanks cupoflife,
On the marriage certificate of Walter Head stated that he was widowed in 1872.
Nancy CUSACK's parents were Peter CUSACK & Mary GRAHAM, but the family story was that she was reared by them, the story seems right as the death certificate of Mary CUSACK (GRAHAM) does not have Nancy on the list of children. Informant; Emma POW (CUSACK), Mary's youngest daughter. Nancy consistently stated that this couple were her parents, & her place of birth Belfast, Ireland (the other CUSACK issue all seem to be born in Cumberland, Eng.) She married a William SEAL in 1857, & on the birth certificate of Elizabeth in 1864 she gives her name as CUSACK.
I have looked for deaths under CUSACK, SEAL & WOOD/S, in Vic., NSW, QLD, WA, & NZ, the only ones searchable on line.

Australia / CUSACK / WOOD/S

Nancy Cusack had a daughter Elizabeth Wood CUSACK, born Muckleford, Victoria, 12 March 1864. No father's name, but the informant was William WOOD, friend.
24 July 1866, William John Wood was born at Deniliquin NSW, parents, William WOOD & Nancy WOOD, formerly CUSACK.
My problem is that i can't find any info about William & or Nancy after this date. No deaths that look like a match. Nothing!
Elizabeth WOODS married Walter HEAD in Echuca, Vic., 14 Aug 1898. Parents, William WOODS & Nancy QUSICK. Walter, widower, aged 43, usual residence, Moulamain, NSW. Elizabeth, spinster, aged 26. usual residence, Deniliquin, NSW.
As Elizabeth was living in Deniliquin, the family obviously stayed in the area for some time.
The other problem is that i am unable to find anything about the death of Walter's first wife, or a marriage. He immigrated to Aust. when he was about 18. So would have probably married here.

Robert BILL married Lydia HURST, 21st Dec 1718 in Rolleston, Staffordshire.
Can someone look in the parish register and verify this marriage? A transcription of the full entry & if possible a photo copy, please.
 Thanks,  Bryn

cando; i now have her birth certificate, it verifies everything. Nancy stated that she was born in Belfast, Ireland.
And yes, i am well aware of the need to verify everything. Far too many don't.
