Thanks,, lm sure l have the birth cert for John 1879 and think he  ws (B) Nelson St,, so l found ref to Kate on the school records you linked father Michael,, 3 water St,,
Dna connection also to the mulroy family so l know it must be correct, on the 81 census Bridget mother Margaret mulroy and her son Patrick live a few Dr's down,, lve traced the family back to swineford Ireland,, also in touch with famlies in USA,, it seems the mulligans had a huge family,, two brothers of Michael's the father of John and Martin went to USA around 1907,, with wives and children,, one named John the other Thomas,,.
Christian names are repeated through all generations that's what makes it so confusing,, eda

Hi my research was for my husbands grandfather,,, he was the older brother born John mulligan 1879 Widnes,, he was a mystery,, after 30yrs of research and lots of wasted paper work my husband did a DNA test, We were told grandad eloped with grandmother ww1, yes he, absconded from the army ended up in Birkenhead. 1916 had 7 children but didn't marry grandma till 1927,, always wondered why,,,. Dna put me in touch with a young man who explained grandad had been married before,, he embessled the fireman's and sailors Union was imprisoned for a few months then imprisoned again for deserting his wife and children,,
Then he just disappeared so his wife remarried,,
So yes l working from Martin and Bridget mulligan from swineford Mayo,,, My husbands grandfather was a secretary for the union in Avonmouth,, we were always told he was very political and followed mannie shinwell and others connected with the great strike 1911,
We never believed any of it but it's, all come true he then joined the army, he was also billeted at Balcombe sussex,, where he met grandma he told his children he was guarding the viaduct,, In 1917 the military police were looking for him,, l was sent a copy of a news cutting about this from a rootschat team Member,, this cutting gave  an address in Birkenhead which was his last known address,, and also it gave the same address that my husbands father was born,, grandma was pregnant,, grandad then joined the merchant ships,, l found all the other siblings except for Martin but thanks to you l can now carry on my husbands tree,  eda

thank you so much,, it means so much, l didn't know he had been in hospital,, l maybe haven't read the whole papers,, l tried to find his marriage,, it looks like she was from the Scottish islands, he changed his name on every thing I've read,, he was born 1891 so he, was older than stated but not much,, l have looked at the record of this person for a while now but did not think it was possible for somone to climb so high from where he came from he had such a terrible upbringing just goes to show what strength he must have had,, will now take another look at what you advised thankyou eda
