Antrim / Sarah Elizabeth McEwan nee McConnell
« on: Tuesday 26 July 16 15:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi there,  I'm looking for help locating my 2nd great-grandmother's grave - SARAH ELIZIABETH McEWAN nee McCONNELL.  From GRONI I know she died 28/06/1902 6 St Leonard's Street, Belfast - aged 36yrs.  She was married in St. Anne's Church of Ireland 21/12/1887.  Her father was John McConnell and mother Ann Donnelly (married in St Malachy's Church, Belfast).  I'm assuming from the parents that she was brought up Catholic.  I have phoned Milltown Cemetery for a search (no luck), Belfast City Council (they ruled out Knock Cemetery & Dundonald Cemetery), I have also been onto the Belfast City Council website to do a burial search and tried different spellings for McEwan (nothing), there is no graveyard at St Annes.

I did find her Husband - James McEwan buried in Dundonald Cemetery in 1936, with his daughter.

Unfortunately I don't know when her parents died to see if they were buried with her.

Any help is very much appreciated.

Joanne

I maybe thought the same thing but I also thought I was being very careful when reading the record on the microfilm and writing the name down.  But I wonder if the 'y' of Mary is meant to be a 'g' for an abbreviated Margaret (Marg.)

Thanks people, but I have the marriages for Nancy and Margaret but can't seem to find one for MARY.

Here's the thing.  I'm looking for the mother of Samuel Boyd Williamson.  I have his marriage cert. which tells me his Father is James Williamson.  In the 1901 census Samuel has his sister Ellen (12 yrs) with him at 5 Gorteraghy, Killoquin North, Antrim.  Also in 1901 census there is a James Williamson living next door, 4 Gorteraghy, Killoquin North, Antrim (seems too much of a coincidence) with daughters Mary b. 1882 (19yrs), Sarah b. 1893 (8yrs), Jane b. 1895 (6yrs) and Martha b. 1897 (4yrs).

The Ellen Williamson I found in Portglenone 1st Pres. seems to have been born about the right time and that is where I also found Samuel's daughter Ellen b. 26/06/1892.

I have found in the Portglenone 1st Pres. records a Mary Williamson b. 13/11/1878 but mother is Nancy Lamont.

I don't know if this James Williamson is Samuel's father and if his daughters are Samuel's sisters.  I can't find Martha's birth record or Jane's.

Hi there,  I'm trying to trace a marriage record for a James Williamson & Mary Lamont.  They had several children who were all bapt. in the Portglenone 1st Pres. Church.  Ellen b. 13/12/1888, Sarah b. 22.10.1891 and Mary Lamont Williamson b. 20/04/1896.

Any information on the above would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Antrim / FORBES FAMILY
« on: Saturday 17 August 13 15:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi there, I'm looking for help on the Forbes Family from County Antrim.  I haven't got much information unfortunately, but was wondering can anybody connect a James Forbes who went to America in abt. 1802 and Charles Forbes whos daughter Nancy, born 1831, married Alexander McCurdy in Toberkeigh Pres. in 24/5/1849.  Alexander and Nancy went to America in 1849 and were neighbours of Margaret Forbes.  Is there a connection of possible cousins between Nancy and Margaret?  Are James and Charles brothers?  I also have an Eliza Jane Forbes on my family tree, born 1763 and died 1868 , who married a James McCurdy.

Any help is greatfully appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi there

I'm looking for information on a James Watt that married a Jane Scott.  They had a son James Watt born about 1796 i think in Fyvie, Aberdeenshire.  I have the Death Record of James Jr. with lists this parents as the above and confirms this wife as Susan Farquhar.  Can anyone tell me if James and Jane had anymore children, or when they married, or death dates.

Any information is much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks Shane

I have the census records from both the 1901 and the 1911 and managed to find the grave in Londonderry City Cemetery.  Was looking for her birth to try and get her mother's maiden name so i could then find her parents marriage.

The related thread you put on was a post i put on a while ago.

Many thanks

Joanne
