Bigamists seem to be ripe within my tree - and people having families with someone else whilst still married ... the former in my mothers side the later in my fathers!

Please?
What I would really like to know is if Mary Sheldon is a widow when she married Matthew.

Many thanks

In 1841 shes born c 1806 Y for born in county and living with husband Thomas, and children Mary Jane and Thomas in Albury

1851 she is born c1804 Newcastle, Scotland with husband Thomas, and children Mary (now Longhurst), Jane, Thomas and granddaughter Mary Longhurst  living in St Marthas

Thomas dies 1860

1871 she is born c1806 Newcastle Scotland with lodgers William and Jane Chick and Walter Bryant

It's an interesting story with so many possible theories (I can think of at least 7 straight off the bat!) which has captured our imagination.  I hope if you do get to the bottom of it you let us all know!
