There are newspaper reports of a robbery at Samuel Jones paper manufacturers on 24 November 1967, in which 6 "bandits", one armed with a shotgun, took £12,000 from security guards arriving with the cash wages.  The Evening News of that day gives the factory's address as Peckham Place, Camberwell, but the Daily Express the following day says Southampton Way, Peckham.

A tree online has his burial in Royton Cemetery Section 1E Grave 1524.  It also says he has been "accepted for a CWWG", a war grave, presumably.

The notice in the South Wales Evening Post on Tuesday 23 July 1940 for his brother Joshua Lewis has the same wording as the Herald of Wales and then goes on to say "Funeral Wednesday 24th, 2.30, for Oystermouth.  Gentlemen only."

Looking on Google maps, just south of Burneston is Carthorpe, which is what I think it says.

In that area the 'lord and owner' was most likely the Duke of Devonshire.

According to websites, after being a miner and before going to Spain he went to Coleg Harlech and then Ruskin College Oxford.

Swansea University have a 2 hour recording of him mostly talking about his experiences in Spain but might include something about his life afterwards.

South Wales Echo 22 March 1989 says he was then aged 75 and taught for 22 years before retiring. Previously a miner.  There are newspaper articles  in connection with his service with the International Brigade in Spain in the 1930s and subsequent commemorations and television programmes, and his campaign against opencasting near Rhymney in the early 1990s.  These articles include some biographical information.  Some mentions of his work as a Councillor, and being a teacher.  Newspapers accessible via the British Newspaper Archive or Find My Past.
