Northamptonshire / Re: Marriage Record

From what I have gathered from my research here on this side of the pond is that Richard Haines' family Bible starts with his marriage records and his children. The Bible was published in 1681, just one year before he left. From all the research I have scraped together I feel his father shuned him for becoming a puriton and disowned him. I found a will that I believe is Richard's father and though  a Richard is the eldest child he is only left 10 Pnc. and the younger siblings inhieret a very, very large amount of land and money "some of the land was free will land granted by the King". This will is dated only months before Richard sailed for the America's. I think it was the deciding factor for Richard to leave and why I can not connect the dots any further. None of his children's Bibles mentions any family beyond their father and mother. So my research is now around any birth record of Richard Haynes born around 1634, I then trace all I can find in looking for a will for that Richard, If I find a will I know it is not the one I am looking for. So he gets crossed off the list and I keep looking.

Thanks for the look-up. Unfortunately these types of sites are full of unsubstantiated material. For instance John Haines and Elizabeth Stanford can in no way be the parents of "Richad Haines who died at sea in 1682" a little research will show that John Haines was a Colonial Governor in the America's in 1634 when Richard was born. People want to connect the dots so bad that they don't take the time to verify fact from fiction. which makes it very hard on those of us who do. Thank you and good hunting.

Hello,

I am also a direct descendent of Richard Haines and I have tried for two years to find his correct Parentage. I know for a fact he is not the son of John Richard and Elizabeth Stanford Haines of Boxgrove in Sussex. There is a great book that has been written by Charles R. Haines ( Richard Haines a forgotten Sussex Worthy ) that disclaims this heritage to it's finality. I would be at your mercy for any information that you could gather to help me on this quest. Thank you. J.D.

I have researched this subject to no end. Other than He was born in Aynhoe in 1636. Then left England and died on the Amity before it reached New Jersey U.S.A. in 1682.
