Hi all - Well this is interesting... I have been hunting the Jane Janieson ( JEMMISION Essie Jessie etc etc) thing, for far to long to remember. Only this last month I came to the same conclusion - and even updated my on line tree to reflect this that Essie is Jessie. I think the the will makes that more likely..
However I do have a copy of the page entry for their marriage Nov 13 1879 BTW They are my great grandparents. Essie made her mark - James signed. and the theory of a death enabling their marriage would work too as James Collis is stated to be a widower and Essie a Widow - then of course the question is who were the early partners?
?
The marriage was witnessed by James Collis Junior (who would be their eldest James William) and his wife Georgina (nee Paine)
The enigma continues :-) - Any thoughts?
