Thanks for looking up those census Topsy.

When they were married the address for both of them shows as 61 Villa Street, Walworth.

Trouble is I have Rebecca on the 1901 census as living with her sister and brother in law at number 5 New Winchester Street in Southwark. I guess she moved in with Albert at around the time of the wedding later in the year.

I don't think he ever knew or lived with his father. The possible match on 1901 for Albert I have is for 60 Launcelot Street Lamberth where there  is a boarder aged 21 living with  a family George Childs and wife Ann.

thanks

Hi

I have all details of his wife and her family. I have a copy of Albert Morgans marriage certificate which gives " - Morgan" as his father. At aged 22  he married Rebecca Figgins aged 21 on the 25 Dec  1901, St Stephens Church Walworth.

Not ordered a birth certificate as you can imagine there were alot of Albert Morgans born in 1879.

Topsy, whats the St Cath's Index?

thanks

The Common Room / Looking for leads/Brickwall
« on: Saturday 17 July 04 19:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I'm looking to trace the ancestors of my great grandfather. I've really hit a brick wall with him as knowbody alive knows for definite who his parents were.  He was born  illegitimate probably in South London in 1879 and died in 1953. We have a maybe on the 1901 census but don't know for sure. My Nan..his daughter is still with us but I don't think she can give any futher leads. Also the surname is Morgan and we don't know were for definite where he was born.

If there is any other  possible lines of research on this please let me know.

thanks

The Common Room / using http://www.county-surnames.co.uk/ ?

Hi

I saw a banner advert for http://www.county-surnames.co.uk/
and I think It was from this rootschat website.

Has anyone used the above site?

I am a bit dubious as the submit form sends you to the email address at the site and not directly to the person submitting their surname. Also the amount of adverts on the site is a bit off putting. Trouble is I have some good surname matches there!

thanks

Occupation: Cab Washer

From a 1891 census. Anyone any idea what this job would involve?

Or any good  websites with occupation lists and descriptions.

thanks
