Thank you that's great information!

Any idea what John and Helen's parents name's are? There are so many John Pringle's when I search and I don't really have any exact details to search with.

James Russell and Elizabeth Gordon were married at Rosemary Street Presbyterian Church, Belfast, Antrim in 1826.  I have Elizabeth's parents as George Gordon and Margaret Bodell.  I have only been able to find James' father who is also James Russell.

I also have Francis Keenan and Elizabeth Fryson born in Ireland around the early 1800's. They had a son John Keenan who married Agnes McGavin Park on the 18/06/1852 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire.

If anyone has any information on either family it would be much appreciated.

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for any information on John Pringle and Helen Finlay born around the early 1800's. They had a son James Finlay Pringle born 1821 in Glasgow. He married Mary Bain in 1839 and then married Janet Morris in 1853.

I cannot seem to find a marriage certificate for John and Helen on Scotlands people.

Sandymc47,

I haven't come across the name Laurio anywhere else in the family as yet, it does sounds like a strange middle name to have, maybe i'll find an italian connection somewhere!

jorose,

Thanks for all the information on the Navy - I'll start researching.

Sandymc47,

Thanks so much for all that information! That's has helped a lot!

Was there any mention of John seniors parents?

jorose,

I can't seem to find a record anywhere of what rank John was in the Navy, all I can find is what he was appointed to after he was retired.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had any information regarding John Laurio Platt?

I have that he was born in 1782 in Basford, Nottingham, England.  He joined the Navy in 1801 and in 1814 he retired and was appointed Harbour Master at Heligoland. On the 23rd December 1815 he married Rosanne Dutton and in 1821 embark ed on the ship “Providence” to Australia.

He was one of the first free settlers to Newcastle Australia, and died in 1836.

I can't seem to find much information about his parents, only that his father was a church of england clergyman .

Can anyone help?

Brydee.

Looks like the family, thank you.

I just can't seem to find anything that links Jeanie to Hugh Keenan.

Jeanie was born around 1880 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire from what I can find on census.

Jeanie married Hugh Keenan and had 3 children Hugh, William and John (my grandfather) in the early 1900's.

Her parents were William and Isabella Stanners born in Bo'ness, Linlithgowshire.

I've found William Stanner's mother was Janet but can't seem to find his father.

Hope that helps - if you need anymore info please let me know.

Thanks!
