Just joined this forum and found your query. While I don't have document you were looking for, I am also related to William Niven and Jean Edward (through Thomas). It's great to find another relative.
I't always great to find a connection! Hello cousin.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Place name help
« on: Friday 17 January 14 08:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I am hoping someone can decipher the place name given on the parish entry for my g-g-grandfather Ronald MACKENZIE born 19 May 1830 in the parish of Urray in Ross & Cromarty. The image is from Scotlands People (OPR Births 085/0020 0069 Urray). On the 1841 Census (085/00 002/00 009) he is enumerated in Moy immediately after a family in Arcan. Several of Ronalds siblings all have the same place name on their baptism record in the same indecipherable handwriting (I have attached the best example here). All help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Claire, Thanks for this. I had seen the census info before but the baptism is one I'd not yet found.

Devon Lookup Requests / Baptism Look-up request - GALE
« on: Friday 31 May 13 05:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
I'm hoping someone can help me with a brick wall. My G-G-Grandfather William GALE was born about 1830 (all census records & his marriage certificate suggest this date). On the 1861 Census he cites his birthplace as Salcombe Devon but on all other records he merely states "Devon". His marriage certificate (30 Nov 1852 at St John the Baptist Church in Hoxton Middlesex) states his father was William GALE (mariner-deceased). Can anyone please help finding William's baptism.

Hi all.

I am hoping someone can help me with a bit of a brick wall. My g-g-grandmother Margaret NIVEN was born in Forteviot 18 July 1805 to William NIVEN  and Jean EDWARD (Forteviot OPR found on Scotlands People). I am now having real trouble finding a marriage for William & Jean on Scotlands People. I have found a marriage on Family Search for a William NIVING in Dunning on 6 December 1789 but no name is given for the spouse. I have tried searching using the batch Number for this entry but there does not seem to be a corresponding female married on the same day. I know I am having a very vague day (week, month, year!) with this so would really welcome any suggestions.

Cheers
Val
