Thanks again Newburychap;Harry Haines Maccabee is of the line I'm following.Haines was his mother's maiden name.Does the war memorial say where in India he died?To be on the memorial I guess he must have died in military conflict?

Hello again,CaroleW! You've come to my help again! Bertie's granddaughter thought he'd married in England, but wasn't sure.I think I can get a marriage and death certificate through my local registrar's,though I may need place, date, volume etc. I'll enquire tomorrow. Many thanks,Lizziebee

Does anyone have any info on the Maccabees who lived in/around Newbury? My cousin's grandmother was Mary Leonora Maccabee, daughter of Samuel, a painter who lived in Speenhampstead. He was married to Elizabeth,(I think)and they may have had another daughter,Beatrice Ellen. Mary was born approx 1879,and married Bertie Sandel Brice at Newbury in 1905

Can anyone find Harold's death for me please? He was born in Alverstoke,Hampshire in 1910;he was living in a static caravan on a site in Essex, circa 1960s. I think it may have been Royden or Royston, and he may have died late 70s/early 80s.Sorry! not a lot to go on!He was the husband of my aunt who died in 1951,and I'd like to know if possible, who registered his death.

Renfrewshire / Bertie Sandel Brice

Please can anyone help me find the date/place of Bertie's death? After his 1st wife died in 1946,he married Mrs. Annie P. Muir -who had 2 daughters, possibly Nancy and Bunty. They moved from Hampshire to Paisley. Bertie had lived in Renfrewshire for a time  earlier when he was in the forces.Difficult to confirm which force as he enlisted in 1897at 14 in the Royal Marines, flew in the Royal Naval Air Service and ended up in the RAF. I understand he was still receiving his pension in the early 60s.Grateful for any info,

Many thanks to you Suzard,I had replied before but must have pressed the wrong button because I'd also asked if the RG etc could be quoted if I were to apply to Gro for certificates and the post wasn't printed.I'll get the hang of it yet!
Also thanks again CaroleW and to you Tom Piper for the great amount of info.
My cousin remembers going to visit his grandparents, tho' his grandfather,Bertie wasn't there. He thinks the house was in the New Forest, near to (then) a village. It was a big house, white with a red roof, lawns in front and an orchard behind the house. He thinks the house was called "Redroofs". Does this ring any bells, anyone?
