Hi

Pentonville is near Kings Cross.
St Botolph Aldgate is in the City of London.
I'd say Shadwell is nearest Mile End New Town.

But you can see for yourself on google maps.

It's possible that you haven't yet found the right baptism.  Do you know what William's father's occupation was?

Possible explanations:

She was illegitimate and born as Boucher - her mother married somebody called King and she adopted that surname

Boucher was a family surname - possibly her mothers maiden name - and she used it to disguise the fact that she was a single mother
hi carole  that does seem to be a reasonable outcome and may explain why i can't seem to find marriage or birth records for sarah   thanks for your help and advice   dave

hi carol    you gave me sarah king in 1841 in marcham with parents george and charlotte .. i have that and also sarah king with john watkins and wife harriet in 1841  st james westminster age 20 not born in county    is it possible she is in 2 places on same census  1841?  i do know she reunited with john watkins in 1861 census in bucks as housekeeper    harriet watkins  died in1852  could you advise me on this   thanks  dave

On censuses Sarah is recorded as unmarried - so it looks unlikely that she had a husband.

Her daughter is named as Maria Boucher King, both at birth and on her marriage to William Gale in 1864.  The marriage certificate names her father as 'John King' and his occupation as 'gentleman'.

I would suspect that 'John King' is a fiction, and that like many illegitimate children, Maria was given her father's surname as a middle name.

thanks for your input ,i think there  could be a possibility this is true   dave

My thoughts are that you've not clarified the sources (with dates)

"formerly" usually means a maiden name. Is there any father on these birth certificates?
What do the marriage certificates (of her kid(s)) say as father?

Who else is with her on census, what is her marital status/occupation?
on her daughter's birth cert the father's name is john king.  dec 1841 kensington town  her daughter's marriage cert says john king as the father    1864 holborn london    dave
from 1841 to 1891the census show her as a servant or housekeeper or living on her own means

Berkshire / Sarah Boucher
« on: Tuesday 16 August 11 02:34 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for my great-great-grandmother, Sarah Boucher. Born around 1820 in Marcham, Berkshire. It is questionable whether she was Sarah King or Sarah Boucher. She lists herself in census' as Sarah King but the certificates I have she says formerly Boucher. For her daughters birth she says formerly Boucher but she goes by the name of King.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks, Dave

Could this be her baptism??

Sarah King 31 Jan 1819  Marcham, Berkshire Father James King Mother Martha

There is also a Sarah King aged 20 on the 1841 living in Marcham with parents George
that sounds very close what i don't get is why she says formerly boucher     could she appear on the 1841 census in multiple places?     dave
