Hello,
My ancestors are the Foord family of Bexhill in the 18 teens and 20s  William Foord (Ford) and wife Jane (Bryant?) moved from Brede to Bexhill around 1815.  Children: Thomas was baptized 1814 in Brede, the rest were baptized at Bexhill.  William 1817, John Charity 1818, Edward 1821, James 1822 (my great great grandfather), Jane 1825, Matilda 1827, Philadelphia 1829.  I had wondered how my Foords are related to the Foords that were sent to Australia after the Sidley Green hubub in 1828, my Foords lived there at the time and I have dna matches with the descendants of the famous Foords that were sent to Australia.  William and all of his clan set sail from Rye in 1835 aboard the Brig Socrates.  I have a few articles of when the Brig arrived in the states.  Some people were apparently upset over the boatload of poor englishmen that arrived, later articles refuted the first saying they were all upstanding folks.  Any help on this Foord line would be appreciated.

Oh my.  I seemed to have missed the heading 1851 census in bold type in your last post.  Now I wonder if it is the same family.  Unless William and his family moved back to England in 1851 for a short time, because I have him on a census in 1850 in the states.  An article from a book on the civil war states that James was trained as an Engineer as a young man in England, and another census puts him as entering the US in 1835.  Well, more loose ends to track down.

Thank you so much.  I have family papers back to James that said he came from Hastings, England.  The Mormon website Familysearch.com has him in the 1850 census of Churchville, NY.  William and James homesteaded in Berlin, Wisconsin in the mid 1850's.  He served in the US civil war for Wisconsin.  On Rootsweb.com Worldconnect, my distant cousin had the info on where William was born and Sarah.  Do you have an idea of where I may look to find William's parents?  Thanks again.

Looking for info on my ancestor William Ford born Oct. 1, 1788 in Chipping Wycombe, Bucks.  His first wife was Jane? and had two kids, James A. and Phidelia or Philadelphi.  He wed Susan Garrett in1809 in Cherham and later moved to Hastings in Sussex Co.  Emmigrated with children to New York, USA around 1835.  He may have moved back to Buckinghamshire late in life and died 1859.  Any help would be appreciated.
