Lanarkshire / Missing O'Hara Death c1851
« on: Monday 15 November 10 10:03 GMT (UK)  »
Having difficulty locating a death record and hoping someone can help out!

Here's what I know:

Catherine O'Neill m. Patrick O'Hara Aug 11th 1841 Glasgow, St. Andrews (record found on SP)
son John O'Hara b. Feb 18th 1844 Glasgow, St. Andrews (record found on SP)

Their son John O'Hara is listed on the 1851 census as residing at 16 Crown St., Gorbals with his aunt Mary O'Hara, a widow.

Patrick O'Hara, a widowed traveling merchant, is listed on the 1851 census as residing at 27 George St., Stranraer.

The same Patrick O'Hara m. Ann McDonald Apr 30th 1857 St. Nicholas, Aberdeen (record found on SP age and parents match).

Some time between 1844 and 1857 Catherine O'Hara (O'Neill) died but I have been unable to find her death record listed on Scotland's People.  I do not know her parent's names, but I believe she was born about 1810 in Gorbals (I've been unable to find her birth record as well).

Anyone up for the hunt for Catherine's death record?

Gloucestershire / Help finding my William Caines pre 1901 census
« on: Sunday 17 August 08 20:14 BST (UK)  »
I've found a William Caines married to Catherine in the 1901 census living in Gloucestershire, Cheltenham, All Saints Parish.  His age is listed as 75, hers at 44.  I think this is my William, as his son Arthur would fit the correct age for my g-grandfather.

I cannot find a marriage certificate for William and Catherine, however.  Nor can I find a William Caines in the 1891 Census.  Judging by the age difference between William and Catherine I would think this to be a second marriage for William... though I'm not sure.

Can anyone help me find my William Caines, at least a marriage cert or a birth listing from c.1826.  From there I think I can find his father's name.

Thanks!

Wales / Birth Certificate - Father's Occupation

I have a birth certificate from Swansea, where the father's occupation is listed as 'Labour Agent (Political)'.  Can anyone tell me what kind of occupation that is?  I was always told he was in the 'house of lords'.  Does this seem right?

I have been able to find Patrick O'Hara in Scotland on the 1861 census with his birthplace listed as 'Ireland'.  No city, just the country.  So my search continues!

I know for sure the last name is McGowan, as the name of the deceased was McGowan.  I just couldnt make out the first name.  William may be right, I just didnt have him on my list of children.
