I've found a Henry Beesley's birth registered in Preston 9which covers Dutton) in Sep 1837 quarter.Might this be him? Have a look at freebmd website.

School Street was in an area of Gateshead known as 'The Teams' and was demolished some years ago. It ran down from St Cuthbert's Church and, not surprisingly, there was a school at the end of it, hence the name. John Cook would have attended St Joseph's RC Church in Gateshead (which does still exist) as that was the only RC church in town at that time.
