Birth of Rosa Lina Marie Becker
born at home of parents on 1st October 1914 at 11 pm
father: Otto Becker, miner
mother: Elisabeth Maria Becker, born Lindeman
married, living in Eichlinghofen and both Evangelical religion

Reported by midwife Auguste Crämer, born Herberg, who declared being present at this birth.

Dortmund archive sent us today the birth certificate of my great-grandmother who was born in Dortmund, Germany.

I know it's a big ask, but could somebody tell me what her parent's names were please? I can't make head nor tail of it.

Here is a scan of the birth certificate.

Many thanks,
Des.

This is NOT a big ask. Never hesitate to post documents in German. We're glad to help anyone having difficulties with the typical German way of writing ;)

Thank you so much, Zefiro! You've made my day. I am so excited to be able to add these details to our family tree.

Hi, I know I've looked at a previous request of yours but cannot remember what it was for. As a matter of interest was Daniel registered as Daniel ROBIN with parents Alexander & Jane in 1871.

SS

Hi, yes, that's correct :) it should be Daniel Robert Macdonald (but it was often written Robin). He married Jane Louisa (maiden name rather frustratingly unknown). She lived between 1877-1945.

Freebmd is an excellent free resource for looking up bmd’s indexes after registration started.  It does not cover all as it relies on volunteers doing the transcriptions.  The Online also free gro index fills in the missing gaps

Thanks Rosie :) :)

Wow! Thanks everybody. Some excellent facts to get my teeth into.

I found them in the 1861 census and sure enough Benjamin is living with his wife Elizabeth (from Lichfield) and son Arthur.

Thank you for finding the baptism and possible marriage. Both really helpful! :)

Staffordshire / Benjamin Baker (1824-1875) - a first marriage?
« on: Friday 23 August 24 14:42 BST (UK)  »
Hello forum,

We always assumed that Benjamin Baker's marriage to Ann Waldon (23rd Aug 1868, St David's, Birmingham) was his only one and that their son Arthur Baker (b.1854) was their biological son. Delving in deeper, I noticed on the 1871 census that Benjamin (Widow) & Arthur (aged 18) are lodgers. This means Benjamin must have been married before as Arthur predates the BAKER/WALDON marriage! Is it possible for somebody to have a look for me. It would most likely have taken place in the Birmingham area. Many thanks, D.

The British India Office archive is held by the British Library.  Original images of birth, marriage and burial registers are available on FindMyPast.  The records are however incomplete and I don't see a marriage for your relatives.

Hi Shaun,

When I look at their website it says you have to be a member to undertake a search. This seems a bit much for one record. Everything else concerning my family's time in India has been completed, it's just this one wedding record I wanted to find out her maiden name.

London and Middlesex / Alice Onions nee Baker marriage to George Wilkins - COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 22 August 24 16:38 BST (UK)  »
My gg-aunt Alice Baker, married a John Onions on 30 Aug 1875 in Birmingham. When he died she moved to Limehouse, Middlesex and moved in with a chap called George Wilkins. I'm looking for a possible marriage please. I'm assuming she'd be "Alice Onion - widow" whilst marrying George Wilkins.

I look forward to any suggestions please.
Thanks as always! D.
