Clare / Re: Wall family, Clonlara
« on: Monday 06 January 14 16:58 GMT (UK)  »
I have some information that might be of some use to you. I live in the Clonlara area and I have a contact,  that would know some of the history of the Wall family. The Wall family home is in the townland of Oakfield Clonlara. The original owner of the house was a man by the name of Dan Madden. When he died his niece Maryanne Madden inherited the house, she in turn married a man by the name O'Dwyer whose daughter Maryanne married James Wall sometime between 1910-1915. This marriage produced 2 sons Edward and James, Maryanne died around 1980. The Wall family never lived at Clonlara Cross and there is also no evidence in the 1844 tithe aplottments to suggest that they lived there. The family never lived in  Doonass, their land there was  known as Walls hill.

Hi there. I have noticed your query on a number of occasions, I see that you have not had much luck I on the other hand live in Clonlara Co Clare and am related to someone who would know a lot about the history of the Parish. The Warren family lived in Coolastigue they were Church of Ireland Religion. A number of years ago a relation of the Warren Family erected a Headstone on the grave of your ancestors alongside the original stone that still stands today. There is no family of that name living in the Parish now but your ancestors still live here. I have a name for you but I need to private message it to you.
                                    Regards Teresa.

Hello ,I made some inquiries about your Wall family of Clonlara ,they lived at clonlara cross about 1836 there is no evidence of a house being there now,i have also been told that the Wall family who live on the killaloe road are only distant cousins of this family
