Hi Brook

I have attached a photograph of Leonard Percival Jane who was John Janes only son, he also had 3 daughters one who died at a few days old.  Leonard went to Canada Copper Mining.  He returned in October 1914 but I am not sure when he went to Canada.  I have been told that he stayed with Florence and her family while in Canada.  After he returned he joined the Army in WW1 and was killed in France on April 28th 1917. He is buried in France in Orchard Dump Cemetary ( could have had a better name).

Hope all is well and hope to hear from you again soon.

Regards

Marcia

Hi Brook

How are you?  I would still love to have the photograph of John Jane and all his brothers and sisters.

I have not done anything since Christmas but was wondering if there were still any relations within Cornwall.  Are you in contact with anyone else?

I look forward to hearing from you or anyone who knows of the Jane family in the Callington/St Ive area.

Hi Brook

These pictures are brilliant.  I never expected to see any of these photos because as I have said before I have had such a problem tracing John Janes early years and also where he died.  I now know so much more about him.  Now that I know his parents and grandparents I can research further.

Thanks so much for posting your original message and please keep in touch and send any more information you have.

I will keep you posted with anything else I find out.

Probably will be after Christmas before I do much more as I work full time as well.

Regards

Hi Brook

Thanks for the pictures.  They have come through fine.  Hope you got the one of John Jane okay.  I am not sure what age he was when this was taken.  I was only given it recently.  I have tried to send a message to you but not sure if it went through okay.

I would love to have any other pictures particularly of all John Janes siblings.  It is great to hear from you as I have been trying for a long time to piece together John Janes past.  As I have previously stated his marriage certificate states his father as being John Jane which is obviously incorrect.  This was making it difficult to progress so your information has been a great help.

Thank you

Hi Brooks

Thanks for the email.  I would love to have a picture of John Janes brothers and sisters.

I have recently met John Janes granddaughter and she told me that he had 14 siblings.  I now have 2 pictures of John Jane.

He lived until he was 89 and died in 1954 at Barncoose Hospital, Redruth, Cornwall.

I understood that Florence went to America/Canada and died there but her husband came back  to England.  Is that correct and are you in Cornwall.

Regards

Hi

The bankruptcy is a surprise.  I will follow this up as I had no idea but it does explain why he left the area.

I have both the birth certificates for the John Janes born in 1865.  One was born to Samuel Jane and Ann Hawke Keast at Nine Oaks.  The other was born to Mary Jane at Furzenapp and does not give a fathers name.  I think Samuel and Mary are brother and sister.  They were both registered on the same day.

I will get the death certificate for the one who died in December to confirm if this was Marys child.

I will also follow up on the deaths to see if I can find the right one.

Thanks for all your help.  It is much appreciated.

Hi

Yes this information is very useful and supports what I have previously found.  The problem I have is that on his marriage certificate he quotes his fathers name as John Jane.  I do not think this is correct as I think his father was Samuel Jane.

He was born at St Ive and I can only find 2 John Janes born at St Ive at this time.  One to Samuel Jane and Ann Hawke and one to Mary Jane who was unmarried.  I think Marys child died in December 1865.

I am trying to check and double check the information I have as I can trace him during the middle of his life but not his birth or his death.  I am told he lived into his 90s.

As he was raised by his aunt and uncle is it possible he did not actually know his fathers name?

Thanks for all your help.

Cornwall / Edward MAY
« on: Sunday 28 August 11 16:35 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to trace any family of Edward May who was born at Little Starta, Lanlivery, Cornwall on 16th June 1883.  His fathers name was Thomas May and his mothers name was Emmeline Harper.

He emigrated to America in 1906 sailing on the Carmania from Liverpool and arriving in Ellis Island on 2nd May 1906.   He is shown as being single aged 22 and a carpenter bound for Pittsburg.

That is all I know.

I would be grateful for any information.

Thanks
