Technical Help / Re: Card capacity on Camera
« on: Thursday 04 August 11 13:35 BST (UK)  »
I would say the card would work given the following compatibility list for Panasonic SD/SDHC Cards

Class 10 cards support high data rates that are sometimes important for Burst Modes and High Def Video on cameras.

They are non-rechargeable so need to be replaced when they are unable sustain the systems BIOS settings when the PC is in a power off state.

Formatting can be done from a Windows Explorer window.
Ensure you have copied off all files from the Flash Drive that you want to keep as formatting will erase everything on the drive.....
Right Click on the Flash Drive drive entry to bring up it's context window and click on 'Format'. Make sure you have definitely selected your Flash Drive as you do not want to Format any of your other drives.....
From there use the 'File System' drop box to select NTFS.
Click 'Start' to commence formatting - This process may take a little while to complete.

Any Windows PC from Windows XP onwards can use NTFS.
Apple and Linux systems ability to use NTFS will vary depending on OS version and installed features.

It might pay to have your primary backup on the C:, and keep a copy on the Flash drive as a secondary backup. Unfortunately Flash drives are easily lost and have a tendency to just 'die'. You can never have too many backups. You could also easily burn a backup to DVD while the file size is under 4.7GB.

What Operating System are you using? eg Windows XP
Are there any stop codes on the Blue Screen? eg 0x000.......
Have you added any new hardware or updated any drivers on the system recently?
How old is the system? Possible cause is that the BIOS settings are not being stored in a 'powered off' state due to dead CMOS battery on the mainboard, commonly a silver button battery CR2032.

You may have a problem here if your Flash Drive has been formatted to the FAT32 file system - the maximum file size that this file system can store is 4GB.
As yours is over this maximum size it may be the reason you are getting an error message. You could try and re-format the Flash Drive to the NTFS file system which allows much higher file sizes but remember to copy off existing files from the Flash Drive first as the reformat process will destroy all content on the drive - CARRY OUT WITH EXTREME CAUTION!!.

Look like the source RSS feed no longer exists therefore you will have no access to the audio files (even though iTunes 'displays' them). You could try and contact the Society directly and see if someone has a copy of the audio files there. Good luck.

Technical Help / Re: send attachments from memory stick

Ensure the flashdrive is inserted into the PC.
When writing your email in hotmail click on the 'Attachments' hyperlink next to the paperclip icon.
Navigate to the flashdrive location in the newly opened explorer window.
Locate your photo then do a single left click on it to highlight it, then press the 'Open' button.
Hotmail should then upload the file ready for you to send the email.
If you have have multiple photos to attach then press the ctrl button while doing the single left click on each photo to do a multi select before pressing the 'open' button.

Try this:
Click Start Button
Click Control Panel
Click Programs
Click 'Turn Windows features on or off'
Expand the 'Games' checkbox and ensure all the games you want are selected. If not then select them and click 'OK'

There may be additional steps after this but Vista should advise you.

Technical Help / Re: Can't scan without ink?!
« on: Tuesday 26 July 11 07:56 BST (UK)  »
If you are desperate to scan and want to take a risk then there appears to be a service mode to over-ride the error code. This may or may not work or screw up your printer.
