Bedlington - Woods Pop Factory.  This is where my Grandmother and Grandfather met.  They married in 1910.  They lived in what my Mother said was called the Bedlington Bridge House.  It is my understanding the house is now a Pharmacy.

Just posting this for the interest of the Blyth folk that visit the forum. This scene dated at 1922 has changed quite a bit now, though the Windmill Inn still stands! On the opposite side of the road the gable end of the King's Arms can be identified further down the road, but the buildings between it and the photographer have long since gone and the site occupied by what is today a petrol station and car sales garage. I remember it being a Ford garage and looking on with excitement at the launch of the then new Ford Capri MK2.

Hope it generates some interest and possibly memories for some.

Enjoy.

Hi, thank you for your replies.  This is in reference to:

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,560757.0.html

I am probably going about answering in the wrong order.  Yes I wanted it to appear in New Zealand.  I was trying to shed light on the Ellen Lund/Kiwi Terrier Completed conversations concerning Eleanor Allen/Allan nee Douglas.  By now maybe they have already figured the information out.  Sorry for any confusion, just trying to help.

I have information on this individual.  Her parents were John Douglas and Eleanor Coutts.  Mother was born in 7 April 1791, Harliow, Newton, Midlothianshire, Scotland.  Married 1811 West Linton, Peebleshire, Scotland.  John Douglas born 1784, Warkworth, Northumberland.  If this is who you are looking for please contact me.  Ellen would of been my 2nd Great Grand Aunt.  I have been searching for her for seems like forever.  I can't believe I might have a brick wall torn down.

Midlothian / Re: Drum

Hi Archie, thank you for the response.  Thank you also for the lovely picture.  John Douglas was a coal miner.  I am thinking maybe Drum the street?   He married Eleanor Coutts, 1811 in Liberton, Midlothianshire.  Problem I am having is, 41 English Census says he was born in Northumberland, England.  One of his children James born abt 1821 also married a Coutts in Peebleshire, Scotland.

This John Douglas(ss) was my GG Grandfather.  When I asked my Mother years ago about where in England he was from she would always say NO NO Scottish he was Scottish, he was from Scotland.  Soooooooooo there you go.  Again thank you for your kind response.  Cathie

P.S. Found it interesting that Drum meant rise or hill.  I was thinking of a musical instrument, silly me.

Hi,  Thank you for the reply.  I completely understand about the lay out of the land and rounding off the ages.  Nothing new on that.  Cathie
