Thanks Roy, I have actually got that photo, I was hoping i might get a closer one,They were really in a mess when we lived in them an when we left, I now they are like mansions compered, to what they were then,I had a good look at them a few weeks ago, ,But i thought i might be able to look at a blast from the past,thanks anyway,Newtredgar group very good,bye

I lived in those old cottages in geoge pit in the 1950s before they pulled them down, I moved away in the 1960s, it would be brilliant if i could see what they  looked like after we left , i  dont now if this will get me any were,,My name is Phil Davies,

     I remember when i used to slide down the mountain side on a piece of cardboard to see who could get to the bottom first,It was also great fun to go up top of mountain make, a kite, out of old newspaper and a few pieces of string and watch it soar over the houses below,it was good sometimes the string would break and it never came back , it was good  to imagine you were on that kite and looking at the scenery below,

  Talking about the icecream man, Can anyone  remember seeing an old man coming around with a cart every so often to sharpen your knifes and scissors with a round  grinding stone, He did them in the street  while you waited, I  can  also remember some one in James  street selling faggots and peas  , They were great,better than all rubbish the kids eat now,I was only a young lad but i can remember,Good days i think so.

  I am sending you a photo of what i think  is the george pit,What i can see of it nobody seems to now were it was,It was were the play ground was.They have now made the playground into a football pitch
