Hi,

Have just seen your message this evening - may be that you have had the information you were seeking.

I did not live at Blodwel Homes, but lived in Llandudno Junction. I attended Ysgol Maelgwyn (1952? - 1958?)  and Aberconwy school until l963.  There were quite a few children in school with me who lived at Blodwel.

Hi Wilcoxon

Thank you very much for forwarding the beautiful photo of Cymyran Beach and Plas Cymyran. It really is a lovely setting and most appreciated.

Have spent many a day there in  the past when my Mother was alive and go there on a regular basis to see where my ancestors dwelled. As Mam called it Nefoedd ar y Ddear (Heaven on Earth)

Thanks
Olddear

Caernarvonshire / Re: llandudno junction - road name change
« on: Thursday 28 July 11 22:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

You don't state if the road concerned is at the top of the hill or at the bottom!! If at the top perhaps it could be 'Pensarn Cottages' or if near the old 'Crossings' Glan y Mor Road, which is directly oppostie the 'Crosville Club'.

If you can give me more details - then maybe !! I can help.  It all depends how far back the names have been changed

Hi,

In connection with my previous message I should have asked for your Father-in-Law's Father's name, as you had already supplied your F I L name. Sorry about that.

Hi Joolsgreen,

Welcome to the site, I am very new to this myself but have found it very interesting.

Have been away and have only just seen your message regarding the Hughes' of Cymyran. I myself have no recollection of hearing about a Titus or a Jane - so its possible that your Father In Law was perhaps a cousin to my grandmother. If you would let me have his name perhaps I could  then  put some thought into what I remember.
Thanks

Henblas farm until very recently was farmed by Ifor (Ivor) Williams and previous to that was farmed by his Father. Can't think of his name at present. The Williams' reside at a Bungalow just by the farm entrance. Llys Awel. To get to Henblas take the first left after leaving Abergele and keep to the right past the Golf Club and it is quite a way up the hill as long as you continue to the right - narrow road. Hope this helps.

The family home Cymyran is through the gate and quite a way down the path. Right on the waters edge. I think it is a holiday home now. Plas Cymyran is the big house. Nain's name was Ellen  - there was also a Maggie and a Winnie and I am sure there was another sister. Can find out from a relative the name of the whole family is you are interested. Having been brought up with the full knowledge of the Hughes family - I have always been interested in the History of the Lifeboat.  Cheers.

Have just joined this forum today and seen your comments about the 'Cymyran' family.
The two brothers who drowned were Evan Hughes  32 years old and Richard John Hughes 17 years old. They were my Nain's brothers. My mother told the story many times how they came to tell her (Nain) of the tragedy. I grew up with the story of the tragedy when I visited Nain in the holidays. Yes, their Father, Edwards Hughes,  was also on board the lifeboat, he sustained a broken leg and other injuries.
On 12 November 1922 a granite memorial to the five Lifeboat crewmen who drowned was uncovered by Sir Richard Williams Bulkeley in Rhosgolyn Churchyard.  Hope this is of some help to you.
