Uncle Bob and Aunt Polly's shop was a place where my grandmother uncle Bobs sister Minnie used to shop and my mother too, she lived at 128 and my parents later moved to 96 until I was 18.  All I can remember my grandmother explaining was that after he lost his leg in WW1 his mother bought him the shop so it must have been somewhere between 1917-19 and I can vividly remember them both working in their shop, his friend Don used to do shoe repairs in a shed in the garden, I remember he retired around my 10th birthday in 1957 and lived in Eastbourne until he died.  I hope this helps, my mother who is now 91 is still living and she will be visiting Sri Lanka in Sept 2011 where I now live and if you have any further questions I hope she will be able to answer them.
