Hello, I do not know if you come on the site often but here goes.
I am a Thorpe, my family have always lived in Sheffield as far as I am aware. My great Grandad is still alive at 94. He was born in 1917 and was brought up in Brightside and Pitsmoor. His father (who would be my great Grandad was also a James Thorpe (as far as I am aware) I am making enquires into the name of my great great Grandmother and even my great great great Grandparents. (This is where it gets confusing
) I am wondering if your James Thorpe born in 1849 could possibly be a relative of mine also. I am not having much luck at finding information, but I am aware that the family lived in town/ Brightside area. So wonder if this could be Bramall Lane? I could be completely wrong and have my wires crossed, as Thorpe is a pretty popular name, but hey anything is better than nothing right?
