Hello Wendy, sorry but 99.9% of the names on my database are for those who died during the Boer War. Your uncle is not there so it must be assumed that he survived and your only options are to contact the National Archives at Kew London or the regiment if you know which one he belonged to.
Sorry I cannot be of further help
Brian

Tks Ady however the list with all its references is quite large and anyway I have no idea where they died except UK somewhere. If you can help by me giving you a list perhaps you could make contact via email at * Uncommon names might help but most are common consequently there are a ot to choose from, from a lot of areas.
Regards
Brian

Hi Kati, yes I have and all of the others on the WWW but my database is far more detailed, containing much more information including a memorial location on about 90%. I am now down to the nitty gritty which makes it very difficult to find them.

I have a database of ALL known British soldiers that died during the Boer War, over 24,000 names, of which 140 died in the UK after being invalided home. Apart from "UK" they have no known grave. Any suggestions would be welcome please.

I visit the PMB Archives on a regular basis so can look at the MSCE 16297/1930 file for you. You will need to order it through Thabani at pmbarchives[at][/blue]kzndac.gov.za. They currently require a minimum of two dayas to process your order so for me to look at it on Wednesday, get in early ASAP.(Replace [at] with @)

Hello A, I'm again late in coming in on this one but if Elizabeth Pretorious was South African then, with her children, the info should be in the Archives here in SA.

Hello Orielbenfo, I have a database of all known British Soldiers that died during the Boer War and am currently linking a memorial to as many names as possible. To date, of the over 24000 names, I have linked 20000 plus, mainly in the UK and South Africa. On the DB there are a number of soldiers that were invalided home to the UK for which I have no grave/marker. Do you have a list of soldiers that died during the Boer War that died in the UK?
