Australia Lookups completed / Re: Marriage in Victoria - possibly Melbourne?

Sorry for third immediate post, but I now have a question:

Does anyone have any knowledge/info on one Sylvia J (Jean?) Bradshaw? She was married to one Arthur T Humphries and as she was a Bradshaw I'm wondering if maybe she is a sister to John Bradshaw who adopted my Nana Margaret Isobel Golby Edmonds AKA Bella Bradshaw? Greggiebear?

Many thanks!

Kelly

Hello again,

Some more info - paulfarthing - I think you may have contacted me before too; it looks as thought your wife & I are also cousins, just not sure if it's 2nd or 3rd. This is what I have established about my Nana's twin brother which your wife may r may not be able to corroborate:

-Arthur S Golby Edmonds => Arthur S Hitchens
-Twin to Margaret Isobel Golby Edmonds both b. 1906 => Margaret "Bella" Bradshaw-
-Married Rita Adeline Seward in 1925 (or thereabouts)
-Arthur passed 1981, Croydon Park NSW
-Lived 1930 in Newtown (electoral role)
-Lived 1933 in same address in Newtown (as above)
-Lived 1936 St Peters (electoral role)

I'm not sure when Arthur changed his name but the inheritance bit is starting to ring true, either that or they changed their names because they all/most were fostered out & decided to do so of their own accord...

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Kelly

Hello All,

Nice to be here!

Thanks first to greggiebear who has also sent me a message separately via ancestry.com. So much has been cleared-up/solidified via this site & from him.

Now for more good stuff.
Margaret Isobel Golby-Edmonds or "Bella" as she liked to be known was my grandmother or "Nana". She was not in touch with her family so I never met any of them, but she did confirm she had a twin, who I know now is Arthur, who she confessed to my Dad 3 years or so before she passed that he was in the Campbelltown area in Sydney's south-west - she was in her late-80s at this stage so you can imagine how bowled over everyone was!

Leanne, I think you're a 3rd cousin & Julie (jag04) a second cousin.

I'm based in inner-western Sydney, born & raised in Sydney & started to try & find out info on Nana as she was so secretive & NEVER talked of her family to her siblings & I believe they were never allowed to ask...Anyway,  started looking as a way to secure a British visa hoping she may have been born there & found out she's definitely dinky. I have several certificates including her marriage certificate to Thomas Hodgson, Catholic church Erskinville in 1926. She had 5 children, only one still surviving today.

Happy to share what I can :-)

Cheers,
Kelly (kelster)
