Family History Beginners Board / Re: Record of Death

Thank you.  I'm not sure when the last child was born but the last surviving child was 1884.  It is quite frustrating isn't it.  I have such a fascination for this branch of the family as I'm sure there is an interesting story there.
You'res sounds very interesting too and I do hope you have some success.
Kind regards

Thank you for your patience and efforts on my behalf.  From what I understand, Henry's mother left his father, William and moved to Manchester and changed her name to Robens.  I have spoken to a couple of people from that branch of the family but no-one seems to know what happened to Henry.  It's a mystery I'm afraid I don't know how to solve.  I don't know why but I have a niggling doubt whether he died or left his family.
Kind regards

Thank you.  That is my gg grandfather's son who died in 1953.  In 1901 when his mother had died he was in an industrial and ragged school.

Thankyou.
The information I have is quite sparse but here goes:

Henry McCroben is the son of William Henry McCroben from Bradford who is the son of John McCroben b. around 1799.

Henry Married Sarah Jane Holmes (widow) nee Lyon in Berwick in 1882. My great grandmother, Florence McCroben was born in 1883 in Berwick.  By 1891 they are recorded as living in Newcastle upon Tyne and Sarah is recorded as a widow.  By the 1901 census Sarah had died and my great grandmother was married to William Anderson and lived in Byker.

I've dipped in and out of family research over the years but I can's any information or record of Henry apart from the marriage.  On his marriage certificate we is recorded as a commercial traveller.

I'm sorry I haven't any further info to go on at present but appreciate you trying to help me.  Many thanks

My Gg grandfather was Henry McCroben, born Bradford around 1860's.  He married my gg grandmother in 1882 in Berwick upon Tweed.  In the 1891 census my gg grandmother was living in Newcastle and recorded as a widow.  However, my g grandmother's marriage certificate in 1901 does not show him as deceased.  I can find no further information about him or a death record at all and wonder whether he left my gg grandmother or did actually die.  I wonder if he could even have gone abroad!  I've tried several variations of the spelling and absolutely nothing.  I would be grateful for any advice.

I wonder if it could possibly be Byker Hill, which is not far from Walker, both districts of Newcastle upon Tyne

Midlothian / Dunedin Street, Edinburgh - McCroban/Slack

I would be grateful for any help here.  My gg uncle Henry McCroban married a Joanna Slack in 1919.  Joanna died in 1921 three weeks after childbirth.  My gg uncle returned to England but I believe their son, James, remained with the maternal family in Scotland, I believe in Dunedin Street.  I don't know if James is still alive or any of his family, but I have wedding photographs of Henry McCroban and Joanna Slack and also a couple of baby photos of James etc which my gg uncle kept until his death and then came into my g grandmother's possession and may be of interest to James and his family.
