Hi Dobby,

No worries at all. I am a little unusual I guess in that my family tree contains 12 convicts!! - which is an extraordinarily high number.

I have a special interest in the lives of the convicts as a result. So many of them went on to become successful pioneering families over here, in what must have been such a tough environment. Fascinating stuff.

Thanks again for your help with this :)

Hello, Many thanks for the information - yes it looks like that is my Dixon family on the 1851 census! I only have marriage details for Thomas William and Annie Elizabeth Sullivan - April 1878 in Mortlake Victoria. I'm only guessing but it is a possibly the whole family emigrated at some point? I will have a look on Aus BDM records for any marriages and deaths of Thomas' siblings as well.
Kind regards,
Vanessa

Hello,
I am searching for some information about my great great grandfather Thomas William Dixon who was born in 1850 in London. I am unsure how he came to be in Australia or when he arrived here. My great grandmother Annie Caroline Martha Dixon was born in Deniliquin in NSW. Thomas married Annie Elizabeth Sullivan of Heathcote in Mortlake Victoria.

I have his parents listed as Thomas DIXON and Sarah Ann SMITH. Any assistance in finding out deatils of his family in London or life there which led to him coming to Australia is appreciated.  :)

Kind regards, Vanessa

Hi Dobfarm,

Thank you so much for the information you have provided and particularly for the newspaper clipping. Several of Emma's trial details I had incorrectly noted! I really appreciate your time and assistance. I have copied the image as suggested.

Kind regards, Vanessa

Hi there, I don't have her birth certificate, only her death certificate. It lists her birthplace as Ballarat 1860. She died in 1933 in Bourke NSW...

Kind regards, Vanessa

Hello,

Hoping someone can help me find information about Janet's family. She was born in 1860 in Ballarat to Alexander TAYLOR and Ann HODGES. She married John Torpey in Forbes. I have not been able to find anything about her parents' marriage or siblings and would like to know how they arrived in Australia. Any information gratefully received!
Kind regards, Vanessa

Hi Trish, Unfortunately no. The Taylors and Torpeys have been very difficult for me to trace. I remember now that I looked at the Vic indexes and found two other children to Alexander and Ann.
