London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: MOORE/BISEBY
« on: Monday 14 May 18 16:10 BST (UK)  »
I would love to hear more about your family.  I am hoping that this is the correct family line.  My cousin and I differ somewhat in names on birth certificates and so we are trying to find out more about the family.

I have an Albert William Smith born Jan 1, 1887 in Doncaster England.  He married Marion Theresa Nolan (born June 15, 2897 Leeds England).  They were married in Durban South Africa July 6, 1920.

I am trying to find birth certificates for both Albert and Marion.

Marion does appear on the 1901 census at 41 Plum Street Halifax but the last name has been transcribed as Molan.

If anyone is able to help me I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Sharleen

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Alfred George Moore

The other thing that my cousin just sent me was a marriage certificate for Alfred James Moore and Eliza Ann Lane - it has them both living in Durban, South Africa at the time of marriage but in June 1892.  That would fit with the birthday for Alfred George Moore in 1894, but there does not appear to be a birth certificate for Alfred George in South Africa either or we are not finding it.  My understand is that Alfred James was born in Hendon, Barnet, London area.

Adding onto that request I have just dug around and found my grandfather's birth certificate.  He is the brother of Alfred George Moore (and the marriage certificate that rosie99 posted has the same initials).  My grandfathers name was Walter Lane Moore.  On his birth certificate his father is listed as Alfred James Moore and perhaps he is the one from Hendon. My grandmother also referenced him as Alfred Joseph Moore. My grandfather was born in SA on July 3rd, 1898.  If George was born in the UK it means that the family possibly traveled out between 1894 and 1898.

If it is at all possible would someone be willing to look for and Alfred James Moore in either Hendon or Barnett.  I would appreciate that.  Thanks

amondg: The parents names are not on the marriage certificate and we have no idea when they traveled to South Africa.

All I have is his marriage certificate which Rosie99 posted correctly (the first link)

The second link rosie99 posted is a good possibility.  Ironically my grandfather was WL Moore. Could have been his brother.  Not sure about the other initial - I will go back and look in my records.

Priscilla - thank you - I had not seen that before.

Max D - I will try and search and see what I come up with on those names.  I thought that my grandmother had said the family either came from Hendon or Barnett.  My cousin and I both seem to have that recollection.

Good day
I am trying to track down a Alfred George Moore born around 1894.  I have a marriage certificate dated 31 Oct 1928 in Durban South Africa.  He was listed as age 34, divorcee, from either Hendon England, or London England (could be either based on the writing).

If anyone is able to help me track him down I would appreciate it as I have not had much success.

Thanks

Hi Kerryn, Lin

Looking back at my information on my file it seems like when my computer crashed I lost some of what is listed.  I will however paste here what I had on Thomas and

Kerryn I just emailed you something I found on my file.  Lin if you send me your email I will mail that to you as well.  Sorry I have been so behind on following up on this.

Best wishes

Hi

I am glad to read your post. I am sorry that I have not responded immediately - my life is a bit upside down right now.  I had a fall 8 weeks ago and am still recovering and trying to juggle physio and work.  Ugh.

What I will tell you is that I have a copy of the shipping record showing the family father - children and I think if I remember correctly 2 brothers traveling from Scotland to MacKay.  I have a bit of history of the family in Scotland as well.

Annie married Thomas Cairns Aitken and it seems like he was killed and she later married a guy by the name of Reynolds.  She had 1 son and 2 daughters, one of which is my grandmother.

If you take any photo's of the MacKay area I would love to see them.  I will send you a pm with my email.

John when I look back in my notes I will look for those names.  It is all on my external drive and I am not linked to that right now.

Have a great day
Sharleen

Sorry added to that by 1911, Michael and his family would have left England for South Africa.  However I will try and search for Mary, Thomas jnr and Catherine and see what I can find.
