Hello, thank you for this information and for the info on James Drake.

Yes I'm on the path to great (x 5) grandparents!

I will get in contact with the link to see if any more info. There is hopefully a map of Crowtrees too.

thanks for all your help with this

Hi, thanks for the response.

I'm especially interested in Joseph and Eliza Drake and their children. They are my great great great great grandparents. Joseph Drake was born in 1808 but he died in 1874 and Eliza 1813 to 1882.

I'm trying to find exactly where they lived and on 1851 census they're near to "Crowtrees" which no longer exists. Is the best way to pin point an address perhaps a death certificate? + an old map copy? Three of their children died.
I have done a fair bit of research on the censuses myself but obviously any additional information is really helpful.
thank you for your help

Hello, I know that it was 2010 since you have posted about Hartshead village but I wanted to post as my ancestors are the Drake family who were stonemasons in Hartshead who lived I think around Littlethorp Hill. I think they built a fair bit of property in this area. I'm looking especially at 1800s. I just wondered if anyone knew them and had any information on them?
thank you

Hello, I'm new to this so I hope I'm posting this in the right place.

I am researching my ancestors, the Drake family who lived in Hartshead village in the 17 & 18 hundreds.
I am hoping for:
a) any information on Hartshead village in general.
B) Any info on the Drake family. They were stone masons so I think they built a lot of property in Hartshead around the New Inn area. I think they lived near Prospect Hall.
C) Any old photographs of Hartshead and if any of them are in it. They were a prominent family in a small village so hopefully someone know about them.
Worth a shot posting on here..

Thank you
Hellieflea
