I can see why you switched. I started on the McGregors too and then was quickly distracted by the Stewarts who are much better documented. Ive returned to the McGregors now. For the stewarts I found this site extremely helpful http://www.chuckspeed.com/balquhidder/balquhidder%20stewarts.html

Wow, i'm also related to the Australian Glue's. My 3x great grandmother was Margaret Glue, daughter of Joseph Glue and Harriet Staggs. I've been searching for Joseph's life before he left England as I could only find information on the Australian end. Thanks for the hints and if I can help with anything on this end i'd be happy to!

macian, i've seen this one and I think its two different Isabella's. Because the one living with John and his family in the census was born in Mountraill like you said (which I suspect is Montreal Canada), but the Isabella that's mother's name was King was actually in the Balquhidder birth records. So I think they are two Isabella's born and dying around the same time, one born in Balquhidder and one born in Canada. Thanks anyway!

Hmm, its possible she died a bit later but probably not much later as she was 72 in 1851. Its been a really difficult family for me to trace, if anything turns up i'd be thrilled. Thank you so much for helping! And I love Monty Python!!

Wow Matty, if she is from the same property then she must be related. Perhaps Grace's father Richard was the brother of John Bridge (born 1742)? Or even possibly a son of John. Do you have an account on ancestry? I'd be happy to share what I have. If your information turns up i'd love to see it! My ancestor Joseph Bridge seems to have been a bit of a scoundrel. I have a lot on him, he was sent to Australia as a convict for a long list of crimes (mostly relating to robbery or possessing stolen goods). He's a very interesting character. I hoped to find out more about his family in England.

Well I have Margaret and John's death certificates. The birth dates are probably right. Though as the details on the death certificates were supplied by others its possible they didn't get the exact birthplace right. It was just the best match I could find but its not 100%. If the family can be found somewhere else that wolud help me too! Thanks for the reply :)
