what sort of information are you seeking. The Daly family was very well known in the locality. Regards

Roisin, Margaret Daly & Patrick Brennan's son Liam who is in his 80's is researching his family & I'm helping. Liam is trying to get information on the extended family of his Grandfather William Daly b.1862. He has most of their names but most emigrated to the USA in the late 1800's. Any assistance in locating their migration would be helpful. Tony

Dear Biggles :)

The PP inThomastown showed me the Baptism record for my relative Martin Kirwan, baptised 1796.
Martin's father was shown as Millis which I presume was Camillus and Mother Mary from Daingean, Thomastown. Martin went to work as a carpenter in Arva Co.Cavan he is shown in the 1841 census in Killeshranda living in Arva.He married Catherine..?? in 1820 in Arva.
I would be grateful for any information or direction to trace Kirwans in Thomastown......Tony

If anyone requires any help with look up of family history or the towns history of Thomastown please do'nt be afraid to ask and i will be happy to help. Also please feel free to add photos of the town.

John Greene owned over 260 acres of lands at Firmount, Gaulstown, Tymoole and most likely some more townlands in East Meath. John's mother Anne was the owner as recorded in Griffiths.
Gaulstown House is a beautiful Georgian home and is presently occupied.
The small river that runs between Gaulstown and Tymoole is the Nanny River.
I don't recognise the Napper River....regards.......Tony

Athcarne you said

PS.... Your Grandfather worked for John Nugent at Gaulstown House. He was the large landowner in Gaulstown / Tymoole. You will find John Greene in the 1911 census.

I assume John Nugent was a typo, John Greene is in the 1901 Census and his son William (I think) is in the 1911, John's mother (I assume) in Griffith's Valuation, so you are saying this family still had a large farm, more or less all of Gaulstown in the 1920s?
The river Napper could that be considered a stream?

Oh right , that use to be Grace's pub, which is still owned by * . He lives just outside the village, i will call out later in the week. His father bought it from John Lawlers mother as far as I know .

Debbie, Did you manage to get any further detail on Peter Augustus Doran. He was the owner in the 1901 and Lawlers in the 1911 census. I did get his death record, he died in the Mater Hospital of Brights Disease in 1910 aged 34yrs. Delighted to get any info / photos. Thanks........Tony

Meath / Do you know this stone cross

I have interviewed all of the elderly people in the Whitecross/Athcarne/Duleek area and none remember any Nugent's in this area. (There were Nugents in Duleek). However none of my neighbours were living here before late 1930's. Have you any further information on the location of your Nugent's home in this area. I have unearthed the remains of the house that stood on the exact location of this stone monument. This stone house fell down in the early 1900's and was replaced by a cottage on the opposite side of the road built 1912.....Tony

My father took this photo and on the back wrote Entrance to lane where the house he was born in stood.

I know they lived in or near Duleek but I'd love to find the lane on Google maps can you help please?
