Wicklow / Re: Brady and Barnwell
« on: Tuesday 11 September 12 19:01 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Where does Barnwell come into the equation?...I ask because I was researching my ancestor, John Brady (Dublin) whose parents were William Brady and Anne (no maiden name yet).
There is a William Brady and Anne Brady who had a son Daniel Brady who married an Eliza Barnwell in 1869...are these your ancestors?

There is a group called "Arklow - Then & Now" on Facebook, I am sure Peggy is a member of this group.

Wicklow / Re: Arklow Cemetery Records Help
« on: Wednesday 22 February 12 18:47 GMT (UK)  »
Dear Colin
I just saw this post on rootschat and wondered if you could help me at all?
My gg grandmother died on 9th Jan 1915 in Arklow.  Her name was Ellen Elliott (nee Kenny) and was approx 80 years old and lived on Wexford Road.  Her husband (William Elliott) died 26 July 1871 at the age of 48, her son Robert Elliott died 6 Jan 1871 age 3 from scarletina, a month before her son William was born in Feb 1871.
William moved to Dublin in 1901 (he married Mary English from Arklow) but died in 1913.  So Ellen, his mother, outlived them all.
It looks like a neighbor registered Ellen's death (Mary Murphy) in March 1915.  Would you know if any of the family are buried either together or separately in Arklow Cemetery ?
Any info on the Elliotts would be greatly received.
Incidently, I also have a record of a Margaret Elliott born 28.04.1856 to William and Ellen but they didn't marry until November 1867.  I have no record of what happened to her, whether she lived/married/died young.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Laois (Queens) / Re: Nolan (Nowlan) & Mulhall, Borris in Ossory
« on: Monday 19 December 11 16:43 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks Seanmac for this info...I will keep it handy during my research.  Thanks also to jjjj2 - I will check the census's again and look these families up.

Meanwhile, I bought all the James Nolan births from RootsIreland site that were born to a James Nolan in Laois:

James Nolan and Anne McCormack had a James in Dec 1878 in Borris in Ossory
James Nolan and Mary Moran had a James in Jun 1870 in Tiernan, Ballickmoyler
James Nolan and Eliza Lane/Water had a James in May 1870 in Knockacoller, Castletown
James Nolan and Eliza Dunne had a James in Dec 1867 in Turrow, Doonane
James Nolan and Margaret Lararson had a James in Dec 1869 in Old Court, Ballylinan
James Nolan and Margaret Fanning had a James in Dec 1869 in Aughanure, Arles

These are all the births for James Nolan around this period.  I am going to discount the 'Margaret's because there are no Margaret's in the family line....there are Anne's, Mary's and Elizabeth's.....I just need to find a solid link....

I don't know if it was just James Nolan (son) who moved to Dublin in 1900 on his own or if the whole family moved...as his Dad's (James) occupation was 'Herd' I reckoned he stayed in Laois?.
James (son) address at the time of his marriage in Nov 1900 was 9 Sackville Place, Dublin....he moved in after the marriage with his wife's family in Dame Street.

Dublin / Re: Sackville Place and Sackville Street

I was looking for 9 Sackville Place for a James Nolan who put this address down as a residence at his son's wedding, but he must have just boarded there.  Coincidently, there are Nolans living at 9 Sackville Street....I thought I was onto something.....

Dublin / Sackville Place and Sackville Street
« on: Wednesday 30 November 11 15:05 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone tell me if Sackville Street and Sackville Place are two separate addresses?  I can find Sackville Street on the 1901 census but not Sackville Place?

Hi Shane

No I haven't as yet - I only found all this info on the web in the last couple of days...

Would you know if it would be worthwhile buying the marriage cert of James Nowland/Anne Mulhall from IFHF or one of the birth certificates?  Not sure if they show occupations or not? (before ordering from the GRO)?
