If you click on Browse, you will get the areas covered, and can see details for individual ports but the lists of men have not been digitised.

A google search on "Sea fencibles pay lists and vouchers" will also take you to the TNA site

The National Archives in ADM 28, Navy Board: Sea Fencibles PayLists 1789-1810

These consist of musters and  pay lists receipted by the men acknowledging their receipt of pay.

and appointment of naval officers to the sea fencibles 1798-1810

The records are arranged under districts.

Hope this might help.

Buckinghamshire / Re: Michael Horton BUSBY b 1803, Chesham, Buckinghmashire
« on: Tuesday 10 May 22 19:46 BST (UK)  »
I am researching the Busby family of Sherington. Thomas and Sarah did not have a son Joseph. Father Thomas made a will 2 December 1813 and proved 4 January 1814, in which he mentions his three children, Mary Ann having died in 1805. He refers also to his father William and brother James but not Sarah his wife. Thomas appoints John Adkins, Thos Gent and Richard Humphreys joint executors and guardians of his children during their minorities.

Sherington records can be found on this site: http://www.mkheritage.org.uk/shhs/baptismsvol4.htm
Original images are included.

Put the name into the top righthand search box and the person comes up. Tick their name and then "Reset Filter" before going to "In Common with". You will then get all the matches.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: Edmund Hilder Wadhurst
« on: Monday 20 February 17 14:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Just seen your message about Edmund Hilder of Wadhurst. He was baptised 30 January 1796 at Wadhurst, parents Thomas and Mary Hilder. Mary was the first "wife" of Thomas but I have not yet found the marriage. They had three children - John baptised 1794, Edmund and Thomas baptised 1797, all in Wadhurst. Mary dies in 1797 and Thomas marries Catherine Bowles by licence dated 15 April 1802, the marriage taking place 20th April at Wadhurst. They had two children - Henry baptised 1803 and William baptised 1807. Catherine dies in 1809 and Thomas marries for the third time to Sarah Day widow, 20 June 1810.They do not have children. Thomas dies in 1817, leaving a will which mentions all his children including Edmund. The family lived and farmed at Great Shoesmiths at Wadhurst, a picture of which can be found in "Sussex Views" by Walter H Godfrey and L F Salzman, and published by Sussex Record Society.

The Thomas who married Mary Kemp was the son of Thomas Hilder and Hannah Miller of  Mountfield and baptised there 9th Feb 1769. He and Mary had eight children baptised at Mountfield between 1792 and 1809, none of whom was an Edmund. The two families do share a common ancestor - Edward Hilder, of Dallington who married to Ann Neave in 1694 at Ashburnham. Hope this helps, let me know if you need more information.

Contact Fleet and Church Crookham Local History Group, as they have recently completed the monumental inscriptions for Christ Church Crookham and should be able to help you.

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Re: liming/limming lived in crondall

The original images of the parish registers for Crondall can be found on Ancestry in their Surrey collection. Crondall, and some of the surrounding parishes, although in Hampshire, are in the diocese of Guildford and so have been included in Surrey.

Liming records are also to be found in Crookham, Christ Church, which was formed from part of the parish of Crondall. The church was build by a builder James Liming in 1841 and there are many Limings to be found in Crookham.

Hope this helps.

Sussex / Re: Elizabeth Curd - 1796
« on: Wednesday 17 June 15 23:08 BST (UK)  »
There is a baptism for Elizabeth Curd 25 June 1812 Peasmarsh daughter of James & Martha
Elizabeth was described as of riper years but as her parents were named in the register it suggests that she was still not of adult age and that a DOB of 1796 is possible.

James married Martha Stonestreet 9 January 1789 at Rye. James described as a widower, both sojourners.
James  was previously married to Sarah Welsted 23 october 1763 at Rye

Hope this helps

The workhouse records are not on-line but are at the East Sussex Record Office at Lewes.  (ESRO reference:  G8/19/1-7 folio 4 )

They have been filmed by the LDS and can be ordered through their local family history centres. Ideal if you have one near to where you live.

The only clue as to what happened to Thomas is that a cousin found a Thomas Creed in the 1881 census of Faversham age 59 born Sussex Peasmarsh (RG11/969 folio 118 page 19). However in 1871 he puts New York! and in 1891 Faversham. I've not investigated this any further.
