Thanks Ruskie
Sorry about the delay in replying - I work away.
I've found out that my paternal grandmother was Lillian Legge (someone still living in the village tells me there's a plaque in the church to that effect). Got there in the end!

If it's any consolation, I'm a Buckenham from Southery and I get confused about who I'm related to when I go back further than my father - we're worse than Hobbits when it comes to geneology! Attached is some info which I found in my late mother's effects. The William who was a publican of the Nags Head was my grandfather, and by turns blacksmith, labourer and carrier - they all swapped jobs willy-nilly to survive. He married a full-blood Romany who bore him 2 children before dying of tuberculosis (I don't know what her name was, and she died when my father was about 11 years old) He (and following generations) went by the nickname of 'Cockles', and his father was 'Doss'. Such nicknames being normal in Norfolk where we all have the same names i.e. my father George William Buckenham was 'Young Cockles to differentiate from his cousin George William Buckenham who was 'Progue'). I'm not sure if this helps or confuses you further, but if you could tell me what my grandmother's name was I'd be much obliged!

Good Luck
