Down / McCAULEY Cemetery Lookup Request / Help
« on: Tuesday 19 July 11 15:56 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

We're hoping to find the cemetery location to photograph the headstone for our gr-gr-grandparents, William & Ellen (McCormick) McCauley, who are both mentioned here below.

They once lived in Drumcaw, Clough, Down, Ireland.  Their son; our gr-grandfather; Alexander McCauley; immigrated to Canada before 1911 and married Rebecca McCracken.

Note: From what we've learned about our researching our family who lived in Drumcaw townland is that it is in the civil parish of Loughinisland, and that civil parish is in the Poor Law Union of Downpatrick.

Would anyone have some Co. Down resources or suggestions?

The information here below is what we have uncovered about our McCauley family living in Ireland so far.  We're still working on confirming all their children.  Some of the children names and birth dates don't add up (?).  But, we're mostly interested in finding the parent's headstone.  Any leads on tracking them in County Down cemeteries welcomed.

Whither I go ye know and the way ye know. Will you, will you, meet me there? Therefore be ye also ready. "Will ye also be His disciples?" "Hear the word of the Lord. "If any man serve Me, him will My Father honour. "John 12,26. "I will give thee the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel. "Isaiah 45,3. Ereated by Alexander McCauley, Cloughram, in loving memory of his fifth and dearly beloved son Joseph Whitfield who fell asleep in Jesus 15 Nov 1891 age 15 years. His second and fondly loved daughter Mary Isabella, gone to God, 31 Dec 1884 age 2 years and 4 months. "Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Thy sight. "Matt 11,26. His dear youngest sister Elizabeth who entered into her rest 15 Jan 1863 aged 16 years. His affectionate mother Jane who died 06 Dec 1868 aged 58 years. His kind father William who departed this life "to be with Christ" 08 July 1893 aged 80 years. Also the above Alexander McCauley who died 25 March 1896 aged 57 years. Also his wife Isabella McCauley who died 22 Dec 1908 aged 63 years. "Looking for that blessed hope andthe glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ. "Titus 2,13. Also their youngest son James Silcock McCauley who died 21 Nov 1928. Also their eldest son George McCauley who died 09 July 1932.

This link here below is the Alexander Maccauley mentioned in the headstone inscription here above and we think could be a brother of our William McCauley. However, it looks like this Alexander died before the 1901 census was taken eventhough his wife Isabella appears on the 1901 census including a few children mentioned in the headstone inscription above.
