Leicestershire / Clark of Little Glen
« on: Wednesday 28 October 15 22:41 GMT (UK)  »
I hope I have established my 7th gg father John Clark in Aylestone married Elizabeth Morton in 1720.  Looking back at the Clark's in Aylestone as it said g from Little Glen. Now trying to find John's parents, there are 2 possibilities of his birth First Jan 1682 parents Thomas & Frances. Other Feb 1686 father John no mother's name. both of Little Glen.
Think it could be Thomas as they had a son Richard before John was born. Thomas has called his children child Thomas 1673, William 1676, Richard born 1679, John 1682 and  Frances 1684.  If I have it right and John and Elizabeth went to Willoughby between 1723-27.  Their first son was Richard, then Thomas, Mary then Joseph.  Going off this Richard and Thomas crop up in both Thomas and Frances children and John and Elizabeth children.

With John being the father can only find John born 1686 and then Thomas 1690.

Anyone have an opinion or am I on a wild goose chase

I have just written to Family Search and Ancestry with my findings and asking them where they got there info from as others could make the same mistake going down that road.  Maybe I am wrong but they should be able to check on it.

Cannot find any Joseph dying in Blaby or Aylestone before his baptism

So how do Ancestry get there information regarding parents Joseph and Mary?  Also

I think Widow Clark is Elizabeth Morton and father John who died in Nov 1729 in Aylestone and Elizabeth went back to her parents .

Thanks Bunnygirl.  Can I ask did you look  on a printed list or was it the microfiche as just wondered who else was  bap on that day and has someone just read Joseph and Mary wrong.

I am in a bit of a quandary.  Looking for Joseph Clark parents he was born in Blaby in 1730

Looked on the printed PR that  I have and it states.

JOSEPH CLARK M CHR 12 FEB 1730 Blaby Clark WIDOW CLARK SHE A WIDOW

So decided to check on Ancestry but found

Joseph Clark
Gender:   Male
Baptism Date:   12 Feb 1730
Baptism Place:   Blaby,Leicester,England
Father:   Joseph Clark
Mother:   Mary
FHL Film Number:   585311

Same on Family Search  with

Indexing Project (Batch) Number   C04654-1
System Origin   England-ODM
GS Film number   585311

But how can there be Joseph Clark bap on 12 Feb 1730 with the names of his parents on Ancestry and Family Search.  Yet on my printed parish records it says Widow Clark (she a widow)

Cannot find a death of Joseph Clark in the 1729-30 .

Can find a John Clark died in Nov 1729 in Aylestone.  Looking back can find a marriage in 1720 to a Elizabeth Morton. It states g from Little Glen b from Blaby.

Does anyone have the parish records of Blaby to see if there are 2 chr of Joseph Clark on the same day 12 Feb 1730.  If not one of these records is wrong.
Any imput would be great.  Thanks

Leicestershire / Little Glen in Leicestershire

Hi can anyone let me know where Little Glen is in Leicestershire.

my 5gg father Joseph Clark born 14 Feb 1730 to Widow Clark in Blably. Wondered why Blaby but it is only 2 miles from Aylestone. Looked through the Aylestone and saw John Clark bur 4/11/1729 from Little Glen.

Further back I have John Clark from Little Glen married Elizabeth Morton from Blaby 2 may 1720.

Can see no children in Either Blaby or Aylestone for John and Elizabeth but can find 4 children in Willoughby to John and Elizabeth between 1723 - 1727 .  No marriage there for them in Willoughby  they just pop up

Hi  iluleah  I had thought of that but usually if they die in infancy the say died in infancy or usually there parents names arev listed.  But that is only a probability.
Hi Annie65115  I had thought that she might have  been a widow for awhile .  Where could I look at the  bastardy records?

I have the PR for Aylestone and Blaby and also Leicester project CD31 and can find nothing there up to now.  The other possibility is paying for a one named surname of all Clark/e that the http://leicestershire.webs.com/ have completed and see if anything comes up there.
Have looked who got married in Aylestone and Blaby Cane up with John Clark married Elizabeth Morton 2/5/1720 in Aylestone g from Little Glen b from Blaby, but cannot find any children after that date to them .  Also William Clarke married Jane Blyth 18/10/1720 in Blaby but they chr a child in Aylstone in 9/1730 so William was not dead. .  Maybe I have missed them so going to look over them again.

Regarding deaths of Clark/e in 1729-30  There is a Jason Clark in Jan 1729 but if so that was not Joseph father
There is a John Clarke bur 4/11/1729  from little glen  ... This could be him .  but there was a John Clarke chr in 1728 to Thomas & Mary.... But the burial again did not say infant or mention his parents name ... So was he an adult?   So confusing
