Hi Sandra,

Computer still having gliches - being thrown through a window is a distinct possibility!  I've really  no idea what happened with Thomas and Elizabeth.  All I've gleaned from other relatives is that he did emigrate sometime in the early part of the 20th century and that Lily was the only surviving child at the time of his emigration.  After that there was a large gap until an Aunt received a funeral card which gave the date of his birth and death at the home of his daughter "Mrs Elmer Beard" in Laconia.  I don't know which aunt received the card, but someone must have been in contact with Thomas' family because otherwise they would have no address to send the card to. My cousin has the card now, but she has no recollection of how she came to have it - presumably it was in her late mother's possessions, but quite how she came by it we've no idea.   By 1958 the family had moved many times since the 1920s and Thomas' brothers and sisters were nearly all dead!
I think your guess that he left after the death of Elizabeth is probably near the mark - I'll try working along those lines and see what I can unearth.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi Sandra - I've just used the link you kindly provided to the previous thread - and am now working my way through all the information you gave.  I've had gremlins in my computer this year and have lost so much info that I constantly seem to be playing "catch up" with myself.    Thanks again for all your invaluable help.

Erato,

The surname could be spelt Morton.  I know that Lily lived in Laconia at the time of her father's death in 1958 and I'm guessing that she is now deceased, but that if she had children they would possibly be living and thus ruled out for info. purposes.

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for the info - after a day trawling through the records I've now found the family in Ashton up until 1911 when they had 4 children, and I found Percy and Francis' deaths - apparently from diphtheria, but I hadn't tracked Thomas Jnr because I wrongly assumed the family had emigrated by then.

Many thanks for your help.

I'm trying to trace descendants of LILY MORETON (Born 1913 in Ashton under Lyne) (daughter of Thomas Price Moreton and Elizabeth Thelwell).   Thomas and Elizabeth emigrated to the USA post 1913.  In 1911 Thomas and Elizabeth had 4 other children - PERCY, FRANCIS JOSIAH, THOMAS PRICE, and  MARY ELIZABETH.

Lily married Elmer Lee Beard in 1930 and they lived in Laconia, Indiana.  I don't know if Lily and Elmer had any children, but would be grateful for any help to fill in the blanks on the family tree.

Thanks for reading this post.

Valeriec,  Many thanks to you for your help and information re the Davies family.  I've just tried the link to the Collingwood Baptist Church, but it appears to have gremlins tonight.  Will try again tomorrow.
Once again, many, many thanks.

Thanks Jacquie - this would appear to be the correct Samuel.  Your help is much appreciated.

Hi Lilybell - Thanks for your really prompt research into my request!  The tree you refer to could be mine - but there are at least 3 other members of the extended Davies family also researching the family.  What you have found would probably explain why Mary (aka Polly) lost touch with the family, because presumably she remarried and moved away - possibly to Ottawa.  Thanks for the offer to get copies of the relevant certificates, but I don't think I'll bother at this stage.

My sincere thanks for your help.
