Sorry, I meant to mention also that Mr Chalkley went to live with his sister after the war and she lived at:

2 Blackthorne Drive, Chingford E4.

Really appreciate your help.

Hi

My grandfather was a Japanses POW at the same time as yours.

I am still searching for relatives of prisoners who might have known my grandfather.

His name was Henry Emanuel Lee and he was in Heito and Taichu from 1942-1945.  He was killed when the camp was bombed in 1945.  Very sad as he kept alive all those years and the war ended soon after the bombing.

My mother and her sister both visited the sites of the camps last year and have pictures.

This site is very good and if you did manage to find out any further information, I would be so grateful if you would share.

Best regards

Hi

My name is Jen and I am seeking relatives of a man who was captive with my grandfather in Taiwan from 1942-1945.

My grandfathers name was Henry Emanuel Lee and he became friends with Mr Chalkley during their time as prisoners in Heito and Taichu camps in Taiwan.

My grandfather was killed in 1945 when Heito was bombed.  Mr Chalkley lived and sent a lovely letter to my grandmother and some of my grandfathers personal effects.

The only information I have is that Mr G Chalkley was living at Blackthorne Drive, Essex E4 (but the address was his sisters) when he wrote the letter in 1945.

I would be so grateful if anyone had any information as my mother knows so little about her father and would love to hear any stories that anyone might have.

Appreciate your help.

Best regards

Jen

I am looking for a G Chalkley who live at Blackthorne Drive, E4 in 1945.  He was a POW with my grandfather from 1942 - 1945.  My grandfather was killed but Mr Chalkley lived and wrote to my grandmother and sent some personal effects.

I would dearly love to find some relative that may have heard about the friendship he had with my grandfather.

Please do write back if you have any information.

Thank you  :D

Best regards

Jen
