When I was very young at school, was asked by friends how or why my name come to be Kevin, it was a group of us chatting about it. Any how I asked my father that day when I got home and he was quite stern when he said "what do you want to know that for"? well it was all inocent from my point but it turns out I we are related to Kevin Gerrard Barry of Ireland, hung at 18. It has been in the back of my mind to this day. My mother remembers a heated argument with my grand father an uncle and auntie and dad about his naming me Kevin. So I recontly find out that Steven John Barry had to leave Ireland in some haste. I have been told it was a fight over a girl and he threw a rock through a pub window. I am thinking its a bit more than than. I need to go back to Stephens Father Michael and see who stephens brothers are or even Michael Barry's brothers to see if there is a link any where. Kevin Barry would have to be a great uncle.

The problem I have is My Father is dead, his father is dead and his brother, my uncle and aunties will not speak of it. they will not say a word. I only just today learnt of another Barry in New Zealand John Joseph who was born in Hawera and went on to train race horses, had a taranaki wcup winner or somthing like that in 1965,66 and 67. Thats all I knowI have found all that you have found. Its finding the brothers of Michael Barry in Ireland that will be a challange

John Joseph Barry Born in Hawera Died aged 84. He ran race horses in the newplymouth area, Bell Block I think. He won the manawatu cup or something like that several times first in 1965 then 1966 and 1977. My grand father Finbar Barry and his Father Stephen John Barry. Any one please point me in the right direction I would be most gratfull. The information on John Joseph is all I have from  new plymouth paper I think, cut out that is almost falling a part and read to me over the phone.
