Hi I am also trying to trace Mcleods of Sornoway  - Allen and Johanna who moved to Canada and can be traced on the Manitoba... census in 1916  - with sons John, George Donald and Angus - was any of this highlighted in your research - just a long shot in case there is a connection
Thanks

Gosh - thanks so much for your replies - I am amazed and delighted with what you can find in less than a day and I have failed so much with.  The McLeod family tree realting to Ross and Cromarty I believe will be my mum's (Carolyn Stark) who has found that out (if it was someone else's could you let me know as it may be a relation!!)
Re the brothers I understand that Angus and Jack were younger although I may be wrong
THANK YOU so much i am delighted - I will keep looking - now off to find out about the suggested maple leafs THANKS

Canada / Donald M McLeod 1916 -

Hi all - I am trying to collect some information on my maternal grandfather - who having left my grandmother 3 weeks after my mother was born  - my mother never met him - so here is what I have so far!
He was born Donald Murdoch McLeod in 1916 - i think  - according to the 1916 Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta Census.  His parents were Allen and Johanna and I believe he had 3 brothers - George Angus and Jack.  He played ice hockey for the "Maple Leafs" which brought him to Scotland where he married my grandmother  - he then joined the Royal Canadian Airforce and returned to Canada (I believe) in 1945.  Does anyone even know where I may start to find information on him.
