' morning Sue
Yes, I'm on the Dowell side - a great-grandson of Thomas Dowell, eldest brother of Sarah (Have a gander at the Gloucester Docks website and look for Dowell Family links to the goldfields)
And you...a direct line from the Timbrell-Dowell marriage?
At 5'10" shall I call you 'Lofty'?...there were some tall-ish sons of Thomas, but not my grandfather. I don't think Tom himself was tall.
Ahhh the 'Percy Chookhouse' name...there lies a story! So, omelette, scrambled or poached
Yes, please use the text of the letter. It was from Sarah's aunt - Elizabeth Smith to Thomas Dowell May 9th 1858. Elizabeth was a sister of Sarah Dowell nee`Smith.
Am new to this chatroom stuff...so still a few things to get my head around.
Cheers
Geordie
