Surrey Completed Look up Requests / Re: Female MARCHANT - Lambeth, Surrey

Hi Jan. I've only just come back to Rootschat, hence the long pause in my reply!
I don't think your Mary Elizabeth is from my tree. Definitely not a Walter Marchant in my family or that she had five children.
I will go back and have another look, but pretty sure.

All the best, Vanessa

Hi Jan,

Just come back on to Rootschat after a long spell of absence!  Read your comment re your Grandmother who was married to a Marchant.  She does sound like the same lady that I have been researching.  If you still visit Rootschat I would love to hear back from you again,

All the best,

Vanessa

Hi Valda.  Thank you for your reply.  I found out - from the 1911 census, when it came out - that Lily Louisa is actually a sister I never knew existed to Nina.  Happily I (or rather with the help of others) found Nina and have been reunited with her daughters.  It was a fantastic happy ending and we have remained in contact ever since.

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking everyone on Rootschat who help other people find relatives and of course all the moderators!

Hi Biker
Thank you so much for the picture of L.C Marchant.  Can't see any likeness but very much appreciated.  I won't dismiss it and will keep in mind.

Hello Biker
Thank you so much for looking for me.  I can't say for sure as I'm not certain yet of his involvement in service.  I will try and find out some more.  The chap in the middle of my profile picture is Wallenstein's son, Wallenstein.  Sadly I haven't got any photographs of Wallenstein Snr. so I would only be able to go on likeness.  Also, the family lived in Lambeth.  I won't make you go to the trouble of scanning the photo unless I can be more certain.  May come back to you on that one.
Have a good weekend!  :)

Hi Biker,
Just came across your posts re the Gas Light Co;  My great-grandfather, Wallenstein Marchant, worked for the company in 1911 in London.  Would you be so kind as to have yet another look in your book for me.  Really appreciate it if you can.
Thank you.

Would the son be William Cowdroy born in 1919?  If so, he figures in my research.

Census Lookup and Resource Requests / Re: MARCHANT - 1891 Census
« on: Thursday 18 August 05 12:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi Sue,
Wallenstein married Mary Elizabeth Satterley on Aug 6th 1905. I have their marriage certificate.  I'm assuming Nina was born after their son, Wallenstein in July 1906.  I've had a few red herrings where I've thought I've found her but can't find out if Nina was her real name.  No living relatives to find out.  I guess Wallenstein senior's death certificate might help to see if a will was made and maybe her name mentioned but I have no idea when he died either.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks for your help and interest too, Sue. :)
