Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 census - Hughes, Luton Bedford
« on: Thursday 16 February 06 07:17 GMT (UK)  »
Dear David,

You were my one hope! What a shame, I have a large Australian family waiting anxiously to find this family, what a shame, I'll have to search further.

Your a Gem, thanks so much for searching for me, I know Luton was/is a big place and never expected a response so quickly.

These Hughes are doing my head in! I can't understand why they are not in the 1841 census as the daughter Sarah Ann married an Amos Haydon in 1844 Luton - surely they wanted time to prepare!!!!!! 3 years isnt much is it?

Once again THANKS HEAPS I owe you one - somehow??!

Jules

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / 1841 census - Hughes, Luton Bedford
« on: Tuesday 14 February 06 01:57 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

Would anyone be able to look up the 1841 census for me to find:

Abraham Hughes born 1800 Caddington Bedfordshire
Sarah Hughes born 1802 Middlesex

I realise the 1841 census doesnt have their county or place of birth.

They may or may not have children with them.
Edwin Abraham Hughes born 1823
Hannah Hughes born 1826
Sarah Ann Hughes born 1826

I found Abraham Hughes and wife in the 1851 census at Chapel Street Luton with occupation listed as SchoolMaster.

Any help VERY VERY gratefully received.

Best wishes

Thanks once again Paul, Yes they are all mine.

Perhaps John Hack was still in Lincolnshire in 1841 prior to moving to Rutland.

Your efforts are most appreciated.

Cheers Julie

This is all just brilliant, wonderful, a delight to my eyes.

I'm thrilled beyond words that you have found this for me.

With regard to Matthew and Sarah's children, I know they all came into Leicester with their parents. Henry would be doing his Chemist/Druggist thing, the son John I think may have gone to Northampton at some stage as that is where he is when his father died in 1852, Charles goes to America but I would have thought that was after 1841, and Christopher the youngest eventually goes to Bedford, Bedfordshire where he is a Carrier but again I feel that would be post 1841.

I'll be grateful for whatever you find and once again thanks a million..Julie

Thankyou once again Mike you have done a brilliant job on all my family connections in Leicester and Rutland. It has been so frustrating not having access to the 1841 and 1851 census and I hate to ask people to go out of their way to look these things up for me.

Your a true mate and I appreciate your effort and time.

Thankyou Sunflower and Sue for all your efforts. I'm amazed that you replied so promptly and with such worthwhile information. Your both Gems.

I will analyse all this information with what I already know and hope you would be willing to assist me again in the future.

Once again I appreciate your time more than you could know.

From a very happy Julie
