Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / Re: MUTTON/THOMAS - from Cornwall

Dear Fleurieu, you mentioned a couple of posts back that you had some info you could send via email. My email address is mickmuttonattpgdotcomdotau. Would be happy to receive any info you have relevant to my tree (my problem is that I haven't made the connection with your user ID on Rootschat and a contact in my email address book - its an age thing!). Also, could you confirm that you have access to me tree on ancestry. I'm not sure if I have sent you an invite but would be happy to do so. I have recently reviewed my info on the David Muttons in my tree and noted that the two in South Australia that were of interest to me were David married to Mary Sheay and David married to Mary Biggin. It took a while to sort out their descendants as a few other researchers had assigned the wrong parents to them (IMHO).

regards Mickyem

Australia / Elizabeth Jane ABSOLOM nee MUTTON 1860-1936
« on: Saturday 23 July 11 12:03 BST (UK)  »
I have recently confirmed that a long lost deceased relative, Elizabeth Jane Mutton, born around 1860 in Redruth, Cornwall to Charles Mutton and Thomasine Hawke, married George Richard Absolom in Queensland in 1876 when she was around 17 years of age. Elizabeth Jane Mutton arrived in Bowen Queensland in Feb 1873 aboard the vessel "John Rennie" out of Plymouth. She was 13 or 14 at the time and was a servant in the family of Solomon and Mary Treloar with whom she emigrated. Her death certificate confirmed her maiden name was Mutton and not Martin as her marriage certificate showed. The name Martin was used in all records listing the births etc of her children but not on her death certificate which recorded her father as Charles Mutton. Interested researchers may contact me if they wish to know something of Elizabeth Jane's ancestry.

Hi Fleurieu, I had a feeling we had been in contact. Yes I wouldn't mind you sending any info you have via email. I have input a lot of data into my tree recently which I am happy to share if it is of any use to you and have had recent contact with a descendant of Joseph's cousin (1 x 1 removed), Charles David Mutton, also of South Aus. I have searched high and low for trace of Julia Ann with no success to date. I am interested to know what happened to her daughters, did they marry etc

cheers mickyem

Dear Fleurieu, time to eat some humble pie. Please disregard the info I gave re Julia Ann Thomas (I had already dismissed  that line of enquiry some time ago - should have checked before I wrote that). At this stage there is still no news of Julia's fate but I guess its time to renew my search for info.

Hi there, give me a little time to digest all the posts and I will get back to you. Joseph Mutton was my 1st cousin two times removed or, to put it another way, his grandfather, Joseph, is my GG Grandfather. I don't believe we have been in contact by other means but my Mutton Harrison Tree on ancestry may be of interest to you. My info (best guess to date) on Julia Ann Thomas is that she "separated" from Joseph, left him with the kids and "remarried" to a Richard Williams before dying in Penzance in 1888.  cheers Mick
