Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Is anyone researching Flyng family?
« on: Monday 06 January 14 01:14 GMT (UK) »Costumier I hope you still are searching for information for the Flyng family history. I have in my possession a Bible presented to William C Flyng of 3 Nicholas St. Bristol as a birthday present on February 18th 1862 from a Philip Harris. It was in old family documents of my mothers. Please respond if you are still searching.
gitane59, I would be very interested in the Bible you mentioned, as William Carson Flynn was my great, great grandfather. His daugther, Elizabeth Emily Flynn, married my great grandfather, Ernest Kingdon.
Does the Bible contain any family information or interesting notes? I am always curious about the personality of my ancestors.
Hi I have determined that William Carson Flyng and Maria Flyng (nee Stevens) is also my GG grandfather.
Their Daughter Charlotte (Lotty) married me G Grandfather John Reed.
My only problem with all this is the date in the bible indicates his birth year was 1862 and all the records and trees that I can find indicate he was born in 1852.
Since I know from the headstone that Charlotte Flyng was born 1872 it makes sense that her father was born 1852 not 1862 as the bible seems to indicate.
The fine script writing in the bible is very clear and I have had others read and confirm that the date as written is Feb 18th 1862.
Any help that allows us to clarify these dates helps us all I believe. Thanks
