Hi
I am related to Rosetta Barrett (tt)
I know why she left England and a story of criminality on her mothers side.
They were the Canhams and two of them were transported in 1831 to Australia. She went out to look after them in their old age. She never got to do that as she married Elford. She settled in Dungog.
I have written up my family history and will happily send it to you.
I can't recall how we know she died in a buggy accident. Can you help me?
Steve

Hi hope you can help.
I've just discovered my Mid late
19th century ancestors were millers of Seaton Ross the Walker family specifically Stephen Walker whilst another Walker ran the Black Horse beerhouse and was the local blacksmith.
Which mill did Stephen Walker run and why did he live at the south end and not close to the mill itself
On Mill Lane?
Is there a way of connecting up the Walkers by looking them up in the Parish Register?
Also their link with the Bonnard family millers of Thornton.
Thanks
Steve

Thank you
Louisa was born in 1842 in York and was constantly in trouble as a child but never appeared on a census though she lived in Garden Place where other Oglesbys lived. I have located her registry details and will send for a copy of her birth certificate. She appears regularly in the York newspapers and can be accessed though British Newspaper Archives.
She was definitely sent to the H of C in 1855.
Thanks for address of H of C. 'Jail Lane' gone now. Just as well. The site has an electricity power sub station on it. Do any Oglesbys, Wilkinsons, Battles, Shreads or Ushers appear in the H of C census details?
Thanks for your help.

I am searching for any evidence of the Battle family of Mayo who left in the 1840's/50's to move to York England.
Any ideas or clues where I can start looking?
Cheers

Family History Beginners Board / The Battle family of County Mayo
« on: Wednesday 18 April 12 21:36 BST (UK)  »
Hye
I just wonder if anyone has any insight into discovering the origins of the Battles of County Mayo many of whom moved to York in the 1840's and 1850's. Just can't locate them beyond the UK census.
They married into the Shread family who were from Leicseter originally.
Best wishes
Steve
