Ireland / Re: New census website

When I checked an example, religion is incorrect.
The original form in the 1911 clearly states the family members were Church of Ireland.
The transcription states Roman Catholic.

William Johnston's death will be very difficult to find, especially if prior to 1864 when civil registrations of deaths began in Ireland.
I grew up in the Doagh/Ballyclare area and a Johnston school friend in the 1960s had Hunter relatives.  He told me his Johnston ancestor came as a farm labourer from Scotland and worked at the Four Mile Burn located half way between Doagh and Parkgate villages.  In Griffiths Valuation it's known as Ferguson's Land where Samuel Johnston lived in a cottage and James Hunter had a few nearby acres.  Perhaps William was a brother of Samuel from Scotland?
My school friend also had McGladdery relatives...any link, joy.e?

"Meeting House Square" Sounds like a Quaker or Moravian location.  I'm not aware of either in Ballyclare.  It possibly could be The Old Presbyterian which is very close to the "Town Square"

There was another Meeting House a long time ago at the intersection of the Green Road and Ballynure Road which was a funeral home until it was recently demolished.
What is the name of the person in the 1911 obituary?

Liam was an internet pioneer when he set up his County Antrim website and forum in the earlier 1990s.  I remember the first time I visited his website using "dial up" and viewing the 1851 Census Fragments.
Thanks Liam...RIP.

Thanks Kiltaglassan and Sinann.

I previously subscribed to Newspapers.com and unsubscribed because of the lack of Irish material.  I think a subscription to Irish Newspaper Archives would be a lot better.

Yes, 25th December is correct!  The old hand written notes are difficult to read.

Colin.

Thank you very much Sinann!

That's most likely to be John I'm looking for who died Nov 5th 1973.
William b 1889 who died in 1970 was John's brother.
The other siblings were Thomas b 1896, Robert b 1885, Sarah b 1895 and Ellen b 1892. I have details of those people.
William's wife was Sarah Phillips who he married 15 Dec 1922 and they had five children.
Kirkinriola Cemetery is where Ellen was buried in early January 1958.

Sinann, may I ask how to access the Belfast Newsletter's more recent editions such as the years you mention?  I have a Find MyPast subscription but the Belfast Newsletter's images are farther back.

Colin.

Antrim / McClean/McLean from Galgorm Parks, Co. Antrim.

I'm compiling a database of the Mc(C)Lean families of Galgorm and Ballymena. John (Jonny) McClean born 5 Oct 1881 (according to his birth certificate) was a grounds keeper at Galgorm Castle who lived on the Sand Road in Galgorm with his sister Ellen until she died 31 Dec 1957.  I've been unable to find his death in GRONI up to 1973, newspaper obituaries or cemetery records.  Has anyone on the forum have any information about Jonny McClean after 1957?
