Cork / Re: Robert Dunlop Howard

Hello Everyone

I  work in  the area of   historical and book research and I have been working on a series of postcards sent to Signor Ferruccio Grossi  and Madame Marie Grossi in 1902-1906.  These postcards were sent it appears by their students.   The postcards are for auction at Cork Auction Rooms on January 30th next 2012.  Mr & Mrs Grossi were invited to Cork in order that Mr Grossi would conduct an orchestra at the 1902 Cork International Exhibition.  Following the exhibition he was invited to stay on in Cork.  From my researches I think one of the cards was sent by Mr Grossi to his wife shortly after arriving in Cork. If anyone wants further details either from my researches or of the auction I will be happy to supply same.

World War One / US Troops Killed in November 1918
« on: Tuesday 31 May 11 16:40 BST (UK)  »
Many US Troops died in the last days of the first world war in France and Belgium.  I am trying to obtain details regarding my Grand Uncle Thomas Curtin born Chicago 1894 whose family returned to Listowel Co. Kerry, Ireland in 1900.  Some time after 1911 Thomas returned to the USA  enlisted in the US  Army and according to my late father was an NCO when killed in Belgium on November 10Th 1918 by a sniper.  I am aware that many who died on November 11Th had their dates of death registered as the 10th for widows pension purposes.  I am aware that another  soldier from Listowel, Co Kerry also in US army died same day and that a piece appeared in a US newspaper concerning the two men.  Despite over a year on the web I have discovered no further details of their place of death , any accounts of his death or where he is buried.  I would be grateful for any clues as to information or where to look or further sources.
