Angus (Forfarshire) / Re: Sir Malcolm Ramsay and Agetha Ogilvy
« on: Monday 30 October 23 12:35 GMT (UK)  »
I can't quote sources but my tree shows;
Agathe Ogilvy (1329) m. her cousin Malcolm Ramsey Jnr (1325).
Agatha's parents were Patrick Ogilvy (1281) and Marjory Ramsey (1292)
Marjory's brother was Malcolm Ramsey Snr (1298, m. Ella House).

Marjory and Malcolm's father was Robert Ramsey, b. 1267 (son of Patrick, son of Gilbert)

Durham / Re: Gainford family
« on: Monday 22 July 19 11:19 BST (UK)  »
I'm so sorry to reply to such an old post but I was wondering if perhaps our Gainford's are connected. I'm afraid I don't have any datets yet but, according to a rough family tree drawn up by my husbands grandfather, we have the following:

My husband m. me (Erica Little)
His father m. his mother
John Gainford m. Rena Finlay
Sidney Gainford m. Eleanor Sandelands
Joseph Gainford m. Frances Liddle (Frances' brother, Alix Oliffe Liddle, was killed in WW1 when the Germans shelled Hartlepool. I think the family were from Darlington)
John Gainford m. Sarah Bell (two ladies both named Sarah Bell!)
Joseph Gainford m. Hannah Cooke
Henry Gainford m. Martha Guest

Norfolk Lookup Requests / Re: Peter Spink, Marriage
« on: Friday 04 May 18 13:31 BST (UK)  »
Hello, sorry to jump in after so many years. I thought I'd just post some of my information for people looking for Spink/Grix from Norfolk in the future. On my tree I have the following:

John Grix 1796 = Emily Bear
       Their children - Robert, James, William, Sophia, Sarah, John (not my line but his grandson,
       Lamoni, was important to the LDS church in Utah, apparently), and Benjamin 1808
Benjamin Grix 1808 = Emily Soame
        Their children - Sarah Ann, Sarah Amelia, Charlotte, Zephaniah, Walter, Samuel, Peter, and Charles Grix 1850 = Elizabeth Spink
        Their children - Frederick, Emma E, Herbert C, and Edith Alice 1875
Edith Alice Grix 1875 = Herbert J Helsdon
        Their children - Florence E, Ethel Emily, Beatrice May, Mabel, and Alice Emma 1897
Alice Emma Grix 1897 = Benjamin Jenkins (Wales)
         Their children - Ivan, Doris Melba, Cynthia, and Ralph

Dumfriesshire / Re: Carruthers-Little
« on: Wednesday 14 September 16 16:13 BST (UK)  »
I'm not sure I can be of much help as I haven't come across the name Carruthers in my search. However, I do have a lot of Little's in Dumfries. It's also interesting as my husband has Little's in his tree that came from Arlecdon, Cumberland. I've just checked my notes and I have Elizabeth Little, born 1870 in Arlecdon. She married John Sandilands and they are my husbands great great grandparents. Elizabeth's parents were Robert Little (1837) and Elizabeth Dawson (1838).

My Little's tend to come from Middlebie and Hutton & Corrie.

Sorry for reviving a dead board but I have a Mary Bell in my tree. She married William Little, their son was Christopher Little. I believe his son, George Little, was the last in my line to live in Hutton and Corrie (or thereabouts). The family moved to Bristol

William = Mary Bell
Christopher = Mary ?
George = Mary Rowe
William = Sarah Boobier
Henry  = Kate Crew
James = Emily Plumley
James = still living
My father = my mother
Me!

I hope you're still around. I have a William Little, married to Mary Bell, on my tree. Their son was Christopher Little (who also married a Mary) born c.1784. Unfortunately I also have very little information on these people.

EDIT: Christopher's son, George, was born in Hutton & Corrie c.1808.
